It seems Nintendo’s decision to remaster and port its 2011 Wii release The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD to the Switch has well and truly paid off.

In the company’s latest financial report, it’s been revealed the Nintendo Switch version of the game has already sold 3.60 million units as of 30th September 2021. As highlighted by many other sources, means it has already matched the lifetime sales of the original Wii game (roughly 3.67 million, according to industry analyst Daniel Ahmad) in just 77 days.

Nintendo’s enjoyed huge success with a number of re-releases during the Switch generation, and obviously, the best-selling game, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – which has now shifted 38.74 million units, is based on a title from the Wii U generation. It’s also officially outsold the Wii entry, too. While Skyward Sword on the Switch has been successful, it’s still unsurprisingly a long way off Breath of the Wild, which has now 24 million sales around the globe.

If you’ve not tried out Skyward Sword on the Switch yet, it’s got HD graphics, quality of life improvements, traditional controls (and motion support), and other features like amiibo support. You can read our review for a rundown or check out our video:
