Wolverine and X-Men’s Emma Frost are teaming up to solve a maritime crime of piracy in the Marvel Comics’ preview for Wolverine #14.
A mystery of port piracy and murder vexes Logan in Wolverine #14, and even though he may prefer to work alone, fellow X-Men hero Emma Frost may be just what’s needed to solve this crime.
A preview released by Marvel Comics finds Logan among the criminal element in Madripoor, a Marvel landmark known for its citizens’ tendency to turn a blind eye and look away to the dealings of others. He is seen throwing the harbormaster outside through a building’s door – which is going easy on someone for Logan. The claws hadn’t come out yet, but his patience wears thin and he comes close to leaving the man with more than bruises to worry about before being interrupted. Luckily for the harbormaster, Logan isn’t the only one with a personal stake in the crime, and Emma Frost has a softer approach to interrogating suspects.
The Marauder was the ship captained by Kitty Pride in the Marauders series from the imprint. Looking like a glamour yacht crossed with a navy battleship, with cannons and other weapons topping its sleek frame, the ship moved the X-Men onto the high seas of swashbuckling and trading. In Wolverine #14, the mystery present revolves around who attacked and torched the vessel while it docked at the port, but also who murdered another X-Men character.
Emma Frost co-owned the vessel and operated the Hellfire Trading Company with her brother, Christian Frost, the White Bishop. As learned in the previous issue of Wolverine, he had been transporting a shipment of Shi’ar Logic Diamonds to Krakoa for the Hellfire Gala when he was found dead, the vessel in flames. Frost prevents Logan from skewering the harbormaster, instead using her telepathic abilities to revisit his memories and relive what he saw on the day The Marauder was attacked.
She discovers that there was one survivor from the attack, meaning that the hunt is on for the perpetrator, the murderer of Christian Frost, and the stolen diamonds.
