Wonder Woman #783 sees a classic Justice Society of America hero join forces with the villainous Doctor Psycho.

A classic Justice Society of America hero appears to have broken bad in an official preview for Wonder Woman #783.

Set to hit comic shops this Tuesday, Jan. 18, Wonder Woman #783 is written by Becky Cloonan and Michael W. Conrad and illustrated by Marcio Takara with colors by Tamra Bonvillain and letters by Pat Brosseau. The issue features a main cover by Terry and Rachel Dodson, as well as a variant cover by Will Murai. (Note: DC’s original solicitation for the issue, which can be found below, is out of date.)

The preview pages provided by DC reveal that the Golden Age superhero Shining Knight is now working for one of Wonder Woman’s greatest rivals, the villainous Doctor Psycho (who has seen a resurgence as of late thanks to the Harley Quinn animated series). “When they said they’d send me a champion, never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be you,” Doctor Psycho confesses before giving his new soldier a helm and a sword. “Wonder Woman soon will fall to my might, and you will be my chevalier… my Shining Knight!” Shining Knight simply replies, “Yes, m’lord.”

Created by Creig Flessel, the original Shining Knight, Sir Justin, first appeared in 1941’s Adventure Comics #66. Sir Justin was a member of the Knights of the Round Table. He would later co-found the Seven Soldiers of Victory before also being invited to join the All-Star Squadron. Eventually, Sir Justin and his fellow Soldiers of Victory were recruited to join the Justice League and, of course, the Justice Society of America (JSA).

Sir Justin/Shining Knight appeared in the fan-favorite animated series Justice League Unlimited (voiced by Chris Cox), as well as in the JSA-heavy live-action series Stargirl (played by Mark Ashworth). The Shining Knight depicted in Wonder Woman #783 does indeed appear to be Sir Justin, given the familiar symbol on his tunic.

Written by Becky Cloonan and Michael W. Conrad and illustrated by Marcio Takara, Wonder Woman #783 goes on sale Jan. 18 from DC Comics.
