Wolverine Fan Art Casts Letterkenny’s Jared Keeso as the MCU’s Logan

New fan art from illustrator Andrew Hunt casts Letterkenny creator and star Jared Keeso as Wolverine/Logan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When it comes to fan-casting the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future X-Men mutants, Letterkenny star and creator Jared Keeso has become a frontrunner for the role of Wolverine, as captured in an artist’s recent depiction.

Illustrator, Andrew Hunt, aka weapon.of.mass.creation on Instagram, uploaded two pieces of fan art reimagining Keeso as the iconic Canadian hero. “A couple a weekends ago I was introduced to the show [Letterkenny] with the explicit purpose (besides being a funny show) of showing just how much [Jared Keeso] would be a natural at playing [Wolverine],” Hunt wrote in the caption.

The notion of Keeso as Wolverine took on increased popularity after a Change.org petition in March suggested Marvel Entertainment executives consider the actor for the role when the X-Men enter the MCU. The petition garnered over 6,500 signatures and popularized Keeso as a fan-casting choice for Wolverine.

Though Hugh Jackman elevated James “Logan” Howlett into a household name through his decade-spanning onscreen appearances as the adamantium-clawed hero, his casting bore some marked differences from his Canadian comic counterpart. Created by Len Wein, the character was first introduced in 1974 as a short, surly and distinctly hairy man. For this reason, Danny DeVito has remained a popular fan cast for fans wanting a more comics-accurate look.

While Keeso is just under six feet tall, it was his performance as Wayne on Letterkenny that really allowed fans to envision him in the role of Wolverine, especially since the stoic Wayne finds himself in an artfully filmed scrap in nearly every episode of the Canadian sitcom.

Neither Keeso nor Marvel Studios have commented on the fan-casting or the subsequent fanart. Since acquiring the rights to incorporate X-Men characters, Marvel has remained tight-lipped about when the mutants will enter the franchise. Many fans hoped that Evan Peters’ appearance as Quicksilver in WandaVision signaled the X-Men’s entry into the MCU, but the series went on to disprove such speculation.

Jackman recently contributed to fans’ speculation about Wolverine’s introduction to the MCU with a cryptic Instagram post last month, but there has been no formal news from Marvel. Keeso is not the only actor caught up in Wolverine rumors, as Superman actor Henry Cavill’s name has also come up in regards to the role.

For now, fans can enjoy Keeso as Wayne in the cult Canadian sitcom Letterkenny on Crave and Hulu, a series he co-created with Jacob Tierney which will return for a tenth and eleventh season as well as a spinoff series Shoresy.
