Daken’s arsenal of impressive abilities makes him more than worthy of his title as the Son of Wolverine.
Before the Krakoa era, Wolverine’s relationship with his son Daken could be described as dysfunctional at best and adversarial at worst. Driven by his resentment towards the father that he believed abandoned him, Daken made it his life’s mission to make Wolverine’s life a living hell and destroy the surrogate family he’d formed within the superhero community. As a result, he managed to inflict terrible harm upon his father, the X-Men, and even the Avengers before he eventually learned to let go of his hatred and built a new for himself with Wolverine and his half-sisters Laura and Gabby Kinney on Krakoa.
Daken accomplished these incredible feats of villainy thanks to his impressive mutant powers, many of which he inherited from his father. Although Wolverine has proven himself to be one of the most powerful mutants on Earth, Daken’s abilities are much stronger in many ways. Add in his few unique powers, and you end up with an anti-hero who might just be a superior version of his legendary X-men hero.

One of Daken’s deadliest mutant abilities is also the one that best symbolizes his familial relationship with Wolverine. Like many other members of his family, Daken possesses a set of retractable claws in his forearms. While positioned differently than his father’s — two emerging from his knuckles and one from his wrist — Daken’s claws are still deadly weapons capable of cutting through solid metal. Additionally, his harsh upbringing under the villainous lupine Romulus gave him years to hone his fighting style to take full advantage of their full capabilities.
Like his father and sisters, Daken’s claws are bone, but they’ve received several radical modifications over the years to make them even deadlier. Back when he was still holding a grudge against Wolverine, Daken followed in his father’s footsteps by having his claws coated in the metal of the legendary Muramasa Blade. Not only is the Muramasa Blade capable of cutting through adamantium and other forms of “indestructible” metal with ease, but it can also nullify any form of advanced healing, making it and Daken’s claws uniquely deadly to Wolverine and other mutants who possess similar healing factors like Sabretooth.
With the power of the Muramasa Blade, Daken nearly succeeded in killing his father several times until Wolverine eventually ended their threat by tearing them from his son’s forearms, forcing Daken to regrow regular bone claws in their place. Soon after this, Wolverine killed Daken, but the Apocalypse Twins soon revived and transformed him into one of the Four Horseman. In addition, they restored his claws’ (now radiating sinister blue energy) ability to nullify healing factors. Sadly, for Daken, he lost them again after the Twins’ defeat.
Even without his ability to slay immortal beings, Daken still possesses many deadly abilities that his father doesn’t. Like the rest of his family, Daken has an advanced healing factor. However, his is uniquely tied to his consciousness, giving him a degree of control over the ability that his father and sisters lack.
Daken’s most remarkable ability is one he doesn’t share with his family. He can control human pheromones. With this ability, Daken can almost completely mask his presence and influence people’s behavior and perception of him, giving him an advantage in stealth and social situations.
Although Daken has made peace with the other member of his family and proved himself to be one of Krakoa’s greatest assets, his time as a villain proves that his powers can make him a deadly threat. Daken’s arsenal of impressive abilities makes him more than worthy of his title as the Son of Wolverine.
