Wheel of Time star Rosamund Pike is narrating a new audiobook version of Robert Jordan’s The Eye of the World, the first Wheel of Time novel.

Macmillan Audio has announced that The Wheel of Time star Rosamund Pike will narrate a new audiobook version of Robert Jordan’s The Eye of the World, which will be released in November.

“It is such an honor to be narrating a brand new audiobook version of The Eye of the World. I’m excited to bring The Wheel of Time series to life in a different way once again,” Pike said in a statement about her new gig. “The Wheel of Time is an especially great series for audiobook listeners to immerse themselves in, and I reveled in voicing the robust collection of unique characters.”

The actor added that “the magnitude of Robert Jordan’s imagination in creating this incredible series is simply astonishing.” The audiobook version of The Eye of the World, the first book in The Wheel of Time fantasy book series, will be 30 hours long and contains both a vast list of pronunciations and distinctive character voices.

It was previously revealed that Pike will star as Moiraine Damodred in Amazon Studios’ highly-anticipated series adaptation of The Wheel of Time. Earlier this month, the actor explained why she decided to join the series, saying, “Historically I haven’t been a big reader of fantasy, but with this, that changed my mind. And I know that traditionally, any guide character in a fantasy world is usually a man, and it was very intriguing to have this mysterious stranger who comes to town and changes the lives of people forever, being a woman.”

Showrunner Rafe Judkins also recently described Pike’s character as the “foundation of this whole show.” “When you look at a character like Moiraine, she’s so iconic not just in the Wheel of Time books but in the whole world of fantasy and genre,” he said during a Comic-Con@Home interview. “You need someone who just feels that part and believes it 100 percent.”

Pike’s previous audiobook narration credits include A Slow Fire Burning by Paula Hawkins and Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen. Her version of The Eye of the World audiobook is available for pre-order on Audible now, and will be available on Audible, Apple Books, Libro.FM, Google Play Books and more on Nov. 16. The original audiobook version of The Eye of the World, narrated by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading, will continue to be available for purchase at retailers.

The first three episodes of Season 1 of The Wheel of Time will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Nov. 19, while production on Season 2 began in July.
