Bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, who worked on the Wheel of Time series, revealed that he’s currently working on a video game.

In a post on his website, Sanderson provided an update on all of his upcoming projects. Under a heading labeled “Other Projects (Video Games),” Sanderson wrote, “I’ve been working on a video game for several years, and I suspect it will be announced this year. So, commence speculation! (Note: it’s not for one of my properties, but something new that I built with them. It’s a game company many of you will have heard of, but probably not the one you’re thinking about right now. Not that other one either.)” No further details about the project were provided.

Sanderson is an award-winning author known for his work in the science fiction and fantasy genres. Following the death of original Wheel of Time author Robert Jordan in 2007, Sanderson stepped in to complete the series. The final three books in the series — 2009’s The Gathering Storm, 2010’s Towers of Midnight and 2013’s A Memory of Light — were all written by Sanderson using Jordan’s notes.

Outside of the Wheel of Time series, Sanderson is known for his Cosmere universe, which encompasses multiple series, such as The Stormlight Archive and Mistborn. Currently, DMG Entertainment is working on several projects based on the Cosmere universe, having acquired the rights in 2016. In the aforementioned post, Sanderson noted work on adaptations of his work are in process, though things are going slow.

Amazon Prime Video recently launched its adaptation of The Wheel of Time. Developed by Rafe Judkins, the series sees Aes Sedai member Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike) and al’Lan Mandragoran (Daniel Henney) working to save the world from the Dark One with help from a being called the Dragon Reborn. Currently, Wheel of Time holds an 83 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and the series debuted as Amazon Prime Video’s most-watched premiere of the year.

Sanderson addressed Amazon’s adaptation of Wheel of Time in his post. While he says he doesn’t agree with all of the choice the show has made so far, Sanderson likes the team working on the project, saying that they’ve been listening to his advice. He concluded by saying, “Overall, I think they’re doing a great job.”

New episodes of The Wheel of Time are available on Saturdays. Production on Season 2 is already underway.
