What Asuna Yuuki’s Zodiac Sign Says About Her

[ad_1]

Asuna was born a Libra. This isn’t mentioned in Sword Art Online, but it does explain her personality traits, decisions and actions within the story.

Sword Art Online’s Asuna Yuuki was born on Sep. 30, 2007, making her a Libra. While this fact doesn’t come up in the series itself, it still makes a lot of sense given this character’s personality and actions.

In fact, many things about the Lightning Flash can be understood through her zodiac sign, including her love life, friends and family. Here’s how Libras live their lives and how it connects specifically to the SAO swordswoman and heroine.

Asuna belongs to the first decan of Libra, as she was born between Sep. 23 and Oct. 2. These Librans are admired for their striking beauty — something Asuna definitely has in spades. In fact, it’s almost ridiculous how good she looks; when Kirito finally escapes the SAO game after two years, he’s emaciated and atrophied (and his hair is longer), but when Asuna leaves the virtual world weeks after him, she looks just fine. Librans are known to take good care of themselves, and Asuna’s rich family may have afforded better care for her body than Kirito’s, but this is admittedly still somewhat absurd.

Something interesting about Asuna’s zodiac sign is how she shares it with her lover Kirito. Ideally, Librans are attracted to other air signs like Gemini and Aquarius. In this case, the compatibility between these two Librans could represent their like-mindedness. Normally, having similar energies like this would make them more suitable for a platonic connection, but they manage to make it work for a romantic relationship too.

Asuna’s zodiac sign is best observed through her love life. As far as love is concerned, Librans are the committal type. They seek life-long partners with whom they can build an accomplished relationship. This can be seen in how Asuna says that she’ll find Kirito outside of SAO and fall for him there, but there’s perhaps a much bigger example to be found in the “War of the Underworld” arc. When Kirito finds himself unable to leave the Underworld, Asuna stays with him. The two live happily together for 200 years of Underworld time with no road bumps to speak of. Their love for each other is so strong and so long-term that it transcends the limitations of the human body both physically and mentally. With that in mind, it’s also worth noting that Librans stay young at heart and just as affectionate as they are from the start.

Other signs of Asuna being a Libran lover show up even before she and Kirito officially become an item. Librans like people who are enthusiastic and imaginative, and they respect the sensible and practical. Kirito is all of these things, which is probably why Asuna is drawn to him. Librans also like people who are trustworthy. Kirito proves this about himself when he watches over Asuna’s sleeping avatar and prevents other players from challenging her. Asuna makes things even by treating him to dinner, but the fact remains that Kirito is honest and dependable.

Of course, a Libra like Asuna isn’t so easily swayed by the potential of romance. When single, Librans will instead focus on personal development and do not rush the romantic aspect of their lives. Sure enough, in the early days of SAO’s death game, Asuna is focused on clearing levels in the game and even becomes a sub-leader of the Knights of the Blood Oath. It’s only through repeated interactions with Kirito that she learns to take things slow and actually enjoy the game.

Besides love, Asuna’s zodiac sign also says a lot about her family life. Librans are obedient and composed children. Teenage Librans don’t have a rebellious phase, but they do have their own opinions that they’ll share with others. Everything about Libra children seems to define the relationship Asuna has with her strict mother. As a sort of “mother” herself, Asuna makes for a loving and understanding Libra parent for her “daughter” Yui.

Kirito and Friends

Asuna’s approach to friendship is also indicative of a true Libra. A Libra can have a calm and composed appearance, but they know how to relax around friends. Granted, Asuna doesn’t seem to learn how to do this until she meets Kirito, but she shows it off well around the other girls in their circle. Libras are open to people from all walks of life, which explains why Asuna openly welcomes people like Leafa, Sinon and Alice into her closely-knit group. Librans also try to keep friends and family separate. This would explain why her mother isn’t formally introduced in the series until the “Mother’s Rosario” arc, all the way into the second half of Season 2.

There are more attributes that can be inferred from Asuna’s zodiac sign, but these are the most definite ones. Since Sword Art Online is technically a romance anime, most of these attributes can be observed in her relationship with Kirito. In any case, being a Libra seems to inform many of Asuna’s choices and actions throughout the anime.
