After a Direct Showcase that is going to leave me bankrupt over the coming months, I have a lot that I will be hoping to play this weekend.
The amount that I will be able to play is a different matter entirely. I am off to stay with some friends for the next few days so instead of tucking into more of The Minish Cap, replaying some Layton, or giving in and buying Metroid Prime Remastered, I think it is going to mostly be a return to the party games. Who am I to complain? I love Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Nintendo Switch Sports is rapidly becoming one of my favourite ‘friends round’ titles so it is going to be a good time all the same.
If I find time then maybe I’ll be getting into some more Fire Emblem Engage or finally making a start on Persona 4 Golden. They’re not quite the party-vibes that I’m after, but I can’t much longer with the latter just staring at me from my Switch homepage…

This weekend is all about that lovely stealth-dropped remaster of Metroid Prime Remastered for me, I can’t see me doing much else besides diving in to relive the experience all over again. I’ve already played the first hour or so and, coming off a relatively recent playthrough of the original, I’m hugely impressed, it really does feel great and looks fantastic, definitely one of the more impressive revamps I’ve clapped eyes on of late.
Elsewhere, if I do get a little time for anything else, I’ll be continuing to blast through Bowser’s Fury with my kids. I’m not 100% sold on this one just yet in all honesty, it feels a little disjointed to me, but they seem to love it, and that’s all that really counts. Have a great weekend!

There’s really only one game I’m playing this weekend and that’s Metroid Prime Remastered. Hahaha, I can’t actually believe I’m typing out these words – it’s finally here!
Then again, if I do get time, then I will definitely check out the demos for Sea of Stars and Octopath Traveler II. I’ve managed to play about two minutes of Sea of Stars before today and hoo boy, it’s a fine looking game!

This weekend, I propose we rename this feature ‘What are you NOT playing this weekend?’ Because, well, I feel like it’s everything. Anyway, I, like presumably everyone else, will be diving into Metroid Prime Remastered. I’ve never played the original (sorry!), though I’ve watched my brother play a chunk of it. This remaster means I can tick one of my biggest gaming sins off the list.
I’ve also got the Octopath Traveler II and Sea of Stars demos to sink my teeth into, and a whole library of Game Boy and GBA games to mess around with. I’ve already played a bit of Tetris, but a quick replay of Super Mario Land 2 may well be on the cards…

I’m holding out for a physical copy of Metroid Prime Remastered, so to help pass time, this weekend I’ll be diving into the Switch Online Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance library. I’m slowly chipping away at a bit of everything. In fact, I’m nearly done with Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.
Apart from this, I’m working my way through Mario Kart: Super Circuit – one my favourite Mario Kart games, and I’m also spending some quality time with Kuru Kuru Kururin – a game I really didn’t give enough attention to back in the day. Outside of these classic offerings, I will also be giving Konami’s new Power Pros baseball game a go. It’s going for next to nothing right now on the Switch eShop. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Here I was thinking I would just wrap up Fire Emblem Engage this weekend but no, one Nintendo Direct later, not only do I need to set the endgame aside to go grab Hector Soren and Camilla in the Divine Paralogue section of the world map. If that wasn’t enough the demos of the (sublime!) Sea of Stars, Octopath Traveler II (with save data carry!) and Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe also pop out of nowhere. All of this along with Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance classics to blissfully replay. It was about time I finish Zelda Minish Cap anyway.
Game of the Week is Metroid Prime Remastered. As I explained during my live stream of Retro’s Magum opus the importance of this game can’t be understated. This is no quick cash grab either, the ‘remastered’ bit lives up to the moniker with Samus, Tallon IV and the Space Pirates looking the best we have ever seen! Rest of the trilogy next, pretty please? Scanning…
We hope you enjoyed reading! Add the game that you’ll be maining in the poll below and leave a comment with your gaming plans for the weekend ahead!
