It’s the weekend – hooray! We hope you’ve all managed to get through April Fools’ Day in one piece. It’s been another week of bombshells, with possibly the biggest news being something we all *kinda* expected but didn’t want to admit, and that’s the news of Breath of the Wild 2 being delayed into 2023. We also got three new games for the Nintendo Switch Online service, which was a delightful surprise. Finally, we all predicted it, and it was confirmed that E3 2022 has been cancelled, with no in-person or digital event taking place.

Now it’s time to chill out and discuss our weekend gaming plans. A few members of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to give our entries a read and then join in with your own via our comment section. Enjoy!

I’ve been making very steady (slow) progress through Kirby and the Forgotten Land, so that’ll definitely get playtime. Likewise Triangle Strategy, a game I’ve absolutely loved so far; I’m intrigued to see how the story plays out.

Elsewhere I’ll also be diving into my annual obsession of MLB The Show with the early access of ’22’. It’s the only annual sports game I play and it’ll likely keep me busy for many months to come.

With the recent announcement of Hyper Light Breaker, I’ve gone back to Hyper Light Drifter and plan to complete it this weekend. I know the sequel is probably unlikely to come to Switch, but it’s got me all excited regardless!

I’m also still on the Resident Evil train and am currently playing through Resident Evil 6. I don’t care what anyone says, that game is darn good fun once you embrace the sheer absurdity of it! I also love how it features multiple legacy characters – it feels like a real celebration of the series, and Capcom have since focused a tad too heavily on Chris Redfield for my liking.

This weekend is reserved for two things: Zelda: Skyward Sword, and more Kirby. One is incredibly frustrating, the other is a lovely pink balm.

But I’m also hoping that someone in the comments will actually read this, because I have a question: What should I play next? I’ve reached that plateau where I’ve played (or don’t want to play) most of the big games that were on my list, and now I’m at a loss. I’d love something like Stardew or Outer Wilds, y’know? Either a chill but satisfying do-nothing sort of game, or a big, clever story game. I feel like I haven’t seen either in a while.

Things I have learned from last weekend: Never play Valkyria Chronicles with a drifting stick Pro Controller. If you think the base game is hard as is, imagine trying to aim sniper shots when your sights keeps sliding to the left. Up to chapter XV in Triangle Strategy and world three of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. A 2020 hidden gem returned this week to the eShop: Red Wings: American Aces is a “more of the same” sequel but the first game was so good I can’t really complain. Plus they did add the most requested feature: Online multiplayer mode!

Game of the week is Slipstream. Releasing next week this is mandatory for every sprite-scaling racer fan out there, the Out Run for our age. Please look forward to it!

As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave us a comment below with your weekend gaming plans!
