What Are Hawkeye’s Other Trick Arrows

[ad_1]

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has featured several of Clint Barton’s famous trick arrows, with his new Disney+ show Hawkeye promising to increase that firepower. The comic version of the famous archer has several arrows up his sleeve, giving the show plenty of choices. Hawkeye Vol. 4 actually featured a comic that heavily focused on Hawkeye’s arrows, basically giving readers a guide to his arsenal.

With Kate Bishop set to take on the role of Hawkeye in the MCU, she’ll likely get any new high-tech arrows that are created. Hawkeye Vol. 4 depicted Clint teaching Kate what each arrow is, meaning a similar sequence could appear in the show. Hopefully, the MCU version of Kate Bishop will have an easier time learning each arrow than her comic version did.

Sonic Arrow

Hawkeye’s sonic arrow emits a high-pitched noise that seems to be more for distraction than actual damage. He accidentally shot one of these arrows during a car chase in Hawkeye Vol 4. The arrow whizzed by the pursuing car without doing much of anything other than temporarily distracting a passenger.

Should Venom ever make his way into the MCU and become an Avengers-level threat, Clint or Kate could make use of the sonic arrows against the symbiote. If the frequency is high enough, the arrow could even shatter glass and help with making an entrance or an escape.

Explosive-Tip Arrow

The explosive-tip arrow creates a miniature explosion upon impact that’s strong enough to flip over a moving car. During the car chase, Clint used this arrow to get one of his and Kate’s pursuers out of the picture, just as Kate herself did in the trailer. Additionally, the MCU’s Hawkeye used them against T’Challa during their battle in Captain America: Civil War, though the Black Panther’s vibranium armor protected him from the blast. Against ordinary opponents, however, the explosive-tip arrows are sure to pack a punch.

Hacker Arrow

During the events of The Avengers, Hawkeye found his skills forcefully under the service of Loki after the God of Mischief used the Mind Stone to brainwash the soon-to-be Avenger. Hawkeye took down one of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier’s engines with a hacker arrow that planted a computer virus in S.H.I.E.L.D.’s computer systems. In an ordinary fight, the hacker arrow might seem useless. Against an entity like S.H.I.E.L.D. or even Tony Stark, who relies on a computer system, however, Clint’s hacker arrow manages to deal more damage than any explosive arrow ever could.

Acid Arrow

A favorite arrow of Hawkeye’s is the acid arrow, which contains, unsurprisingly, acid capable of burning through metal. He used this arrow several times, initially testing it against a three-inch steel pipe, which it ripped right through. Iron Man invented these arrows for Clint in the MCU after he started funding the Avengers.

Adamantium Arrow

Although it still hasn’t been officially introduced into the MCU due to the past Disney-Fox disputes, adamantium remains the strongest metal on Earth in Marvel Comics. Hawkeye made use of it when he created an adamantium-tipped arrow to defeat Ultron. The adamantium arrow has also appeared as a special move for Hawkeye in his video game appearances. Disney’s acquisition of Fox makes adamantium fair game in the MCU. It may be too late for Clint Barton to utilize the impenetrable metal, but maybe his successor will make use of it.

Vibranium Arrow

Something Clint could make right now in the MCU is a vibranium arrow, assuming Wakanda agrees to donate some to him. In the comics, Clint designed the arrow for emergency uses, just like with the adamantium arrow, since the resources needed to make them are so rare. Unlike the adamantium arrow, the vibranium arrow arguably has more uses, as its unique properties allow it to slice through adamantium, a very difficult feat to achieve. Depending on the types of enemies they come up against, Kate and Clint may need some vibranium arrows to help keep themselves alive.

Electro Arrow

The electro arrow in the comics is essentially a flying taser. Hawkeye uses it to shock a pursuing driver right in his neck, showing just how effective a flying taser is. The MCU’s Clint used a similar electro arrow on Wanda Maximoff when they first butted heads in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He placed the arrow on her head, not shocking her but instead delivering a smaller electrical discharge that incapacitated her. Considering how effectively the arrow worked against the Scarlet Witch, it stands to reason Clint may use the arrow again against other heavy hitters.

Rocket Arrow

The rocket arrow is just as it sounds: an arrow that shoots off like a rocket after firing and explodes on impact. With a bit more oomph behind it than the explosive-tip arrow, the rocket arrow is meant for heavy hitters. Clint used this unsuccessfully during his car chase with Kate; his shot accidentally blew up in the middle of the bridge they were on due to Kate’s swerving. The power of Clint’s explosive arrows in the MCU is more on par with the rocket arrow, though a rocket arrow could still make an appearance in Hawkeye.

Boomerang Arrow

When Kate asked Clint why he developed a boomerang arrow, he couldn’t give her a real answer. Most archers wouldn’t want their arrow flying back at them after firing. In Hawkeye’s case, however, his biggest weakness is running out of arrows to fire, making a boomerang arrow something that practically makes sense.

Kate Bishop actually demonstrated the boomerang arrow’s effectiveness when she fired it up in the air, tricking an enemy holding her at gunpoint into believing she wasted the shot. The arrow came back down and took down the gunman, saving Kate, Clint and a hostage.

To see what other trick arrows are in Clint’s arsenal, Hawkeye premieres Nov. 24 on Disney+.
