We Interviewed Works of Whimsy Studios

[ad_1]

We had the chance to interview Jess from Works of Whimsy Studios!

Works of Whimsy Studios started as a way for my mom and I to occasionally sell paintings to fund our craft hobbies. When I lost my job in 2021, I decided to combine our love of art and my husband’s engineering know how to try and make it as an artist/maker full time. Now we bounce ideas off each other and use our individual strengths in different areas to make some really cool home decor and accessories!

2. What are some of your favorite things to craft?

Jess (me)- book nooks! I love making something that combines my love of books and also doubles as storage for all my dnd minis! Tony (my husband)- Dice boxes, even though he only gets to make them sporadically since he works full time as a teacher. Cindy (my mom)- Acrylic pour paintings, in beach colors, of course!

3. How has D&D inspired you?

We started playing dnd about 5 years ago. We play in a regular campaign with our now 12 year old. Getting into dnd has not only given us great times with family and friends, but also into the most generous and kind online community of other nerdy makers. Making things that remind us of those great times, and knowing that others are getting items from us to make memories of their own is just fantastic.

4. What are some of your goals for 2022?

Our goals for this year are to continue to be able for this to be my full time job, but also to hopefully start expanding into some local shops. Also to collaborate with other artists and makers, because that is always my favorite thing!

5. What advice would you give to someone who wants to do what you do?

Be kind, and make connections with other makers. Be a community, not competition.

6. Where can people support your work?

Our shop website: http://worksofwhimsy.com If you want to support without buying anything (then you’re awesome!), I do have a ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/jessgeekmom Follow me on Twitter @jessgeekmom Or TikTok @jessworksofwhimsy for all my latest news and products.
