We Interviewed The Movie Couple!

[ad_1]

  • What is the first movie you remember really impacting you from a young age?

I feel like I was always watching Disney movies and cartoons growing up. When The Little Mermaid was released overseas, I actually didn’t see it in theaters. My mom didn’t love going to movie theaters because smoking was allowed [back then] so she’d never take me. We were in the department store when I saw a commercial for The Little Mermaid and was fascinated by the animation and of, course mermaids. After The Little Mermaid, I became an even bigger fan of Disney animation and still is today.

  • What are your top 5 favorite movies (so far) and why?

In no particular order: The Little Mermaid, Star Wars (the whole original trilogy can count as one movie, right?), Parasite, Nausicaa And The Windy Valley, and The Princess Bride. As you can see, I definitely love fantasy and sci-fi movies. I grew up watching The Little Mermaid and that got me into the world of Disney animation. For Nausicaa, I have my grandfather to thank. He always showed me Miyazaki films. We started with Totoro and he showed me Nausicaa later on. I love the story of how she took charge to bring peace to a planet and restore the ecosystem that’s been ravaged by apocalypse conflict. Star Wars was a movie my dad showed me when I was young and we always watched it together. That world was so interesting to me – the Light side, the Dark side, the Force, and lightsabers. Even with the language barrier I was still so enthralled by the film. Parasite is a must-watch. I saw it at TIFF in 2019 and I couldn’t stop talking about it. The story is filled with twists and turns. The dialogue, camera work, and storytelling is exceptional.

  • Who inspired you to react to movies/trailers?

I think our very first trailer reaction was to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. I remember seeing trailer reactions becoming a trend on YouTube and since our channel was relatively new at the time, we thought it’d be a fun way to get more viewers interested in our channel. We’re huge Star Wars fans as well so we decided to try it with The Force Awaken trailer. We said we’d do it just this once for Star Wars but we ended up having so much fun filming the video, and the video got pretty good views for a small channel so we ended up doing another and another, and the rest is history.

  • What is one TV show you would like to come back?

I’d love to see Netflix’s “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” come back. I was so excited to see that they were going to visit the world of Thra again and that they were going to keep it just like the original movie – by using puppets instead of going the CGI or animated route. The series was very well done – everything from character design to sets to voice acting and of course, the master puppetry of Jim Hansen Company. I fell in love with Deet and Rian and was very invested to see where their story was going to go.

  • What is one fictional series or movie you would love to be cast in?

I’d love to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or in a Star Wars show or movie. I grew up watching Star Wars and running around in my childhood home with a make-shift lightsaber – and really not much as change. I still like to run around with a lightsaber, haha. To be involved in either of those franchises would be a dream come true.

  • You’re an Oscar-nominated actress: Who are your co-stars? Who was your director?

Wow, what a great question. There are so many actors and directors I look up to, it’s hard to pick. For director, Lulu Wang. Co-stars are Gemma Chan, Viola Davis, Oscar Issac, and Tom Hiddleston.
