What Is The Fiend of Hollow Mine?
“The Fiend of Hollow Mine” is one of 13 adventures introduced in Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel, an anthology book that brings to your table over a dozen locations inspired by real-world cultures and mythologies. Writer Mario Ortegón (he/him) drew from Mexican history and culture to craft this adventure.
In it, the characters travel to the vibrant city of San Citlán and the barren lands beyond it. They must investigate a magical disease and an owllike fiend that terrorizes people dwelling in the borderlands. These events lead up to the Night of the Remembered, a festival when people can be visited by their deceased loved ones. To learn more about the adventure, see Todd Kenreck’s interview with Mario Ortegón below:
Michael Galvis (@michaelgalvis) is a tabletop content producer for D&D Beyond. He is a longtime Dungeon Master who enjoys horror films and all things fantasy and sci-fi. When he isn’t in the DM’s seat or rolling dice as his anxious halfling sorcerer, he’s playing League of Legends and Magic: The Gathering with his husband. They live together in Los Angeles with their adorable dog, Quentin.
