Watch: Here’s DC FanDome 2021’s Biggest Winners (and Losers)

[ad_1]

Over the weekend, during DC FanDome, DC Comics and Warner Bros. cheap alternative to taking part at an in-person comics convention, several trailers and teasers were presented to the online audience, and perhaps the biggest news was the big trailer all Batman fans have been anticipating, a new look at Matt Reeves upcoming The Batman. The film stars Robert Pattinson as the titular vigilante, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton aka The Riddler, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. The first footage for this film dropped a year ago at the previous DC FanDome and other than a couple teaser images and posters, this is our first real look at the film since.

The clip shows a lot more interaction between Batman and Selina as well as him going up against Cobblepot. We see the police arresting the Riddler at a diner but I’m guessing that was part of his plan and we get our first real look at Serkis as Alfred, something they’d been keeping underwraps for a while. For me, the coolest thing was seeing the new Batmobile in action. It’s the most muscle car looking version of the famous ride in years.

They also dropped a new 60-second spot the day after the Matt Reeves-directed reboot returned to the virtual DC FanDome event where Reeves, along with stars Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz, presented a behind-the-scenes production featurette.

Along with the first look at ally Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), The Batman shined the Bat-signal on Bruce Wayne (Pattinson), Catwoman (Kravitz), officer Jim Gordon (Jeffrey Wright), and Gotham rogues Riddler (Paul Dano) and the Penguin (Colin Farrell).

The film will hit theaters on March 4th, 2022.

Zachary Levi presented a new trailer for Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods. Zachary Levi and Asher Angel reprise their roles as Billy Batson. This time, though, problems arise from Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as Kalypso and Hespera. For a sneak peek, Levi took fans behind the scenes of Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

A 2023 release date slammed on-screen to finish off Levi’s behind-the-scenes tour of Shazam! Fury of the Gods. However, it just left fans wanting more.

Finally, HBO Max released a teaser trailer for the series Peacemaker, written and directed by James Gunn. The DC series debuts January 13th.

The series will explore the origins of the character that John Cena first portrayed in The Suicide Squad, who is described as: “a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.”

The series also stars Danielle Brooks as Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Harcourt, Steve Agee as Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn, and Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith. Gunn wrote all eight episodes and directed five, including the first. The character of Peacemaker first appeared in the Charlton Comics publication, Fightin’ 5 #40 in November 1966, created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette. That series ended with #41 and Peacemaker would get his own five=issue series in 1967. With the demise of Charlton in the mid-80s, DC Comics purchased him and a slew of other characters from the publishers library and got his own mini-series in early 1988. The costume Cena wears in the film and series is about as comic accurate as you can get.

Not all DC fans were impressed, and not all the videos presented were a hit.
