Despite being nominated for 23 Emmy Awards, WandaVision’s losses have resulted in Marvel fans expressing their disappointment across social media.
Following a disappointing night at the 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards, fans of Marvel’s WandaVision are expressing their frustration across social media.
WandaVision, the first major Marvel Cinematic Universe series to air on Disney+, was nominated across 23 different categories. While stars Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and Kathryn Hahn were all nominated for significant awards, including Lead Actor and Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie, the show only took home three awards: Production, Costume Design and Music. Fans quickly took to social media to express their annoyance at the show’s snubbing.

I’m gonna be honest: I am a bit disappointed (read: gutted) that #WandaVIsion did not win any other Emmy’s (besides the 3 creative awards from earlier). The winners were good, too, really, (and I’d given all/both the awards) but… still…

WandaVision was also a contender for Outstanding Limited Series, Anthology or TV Movie, losing out to Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit. While the tragic story of two of the MCU’s most powerful characters didn’t perform as expected, the night was a major success for The Crown which took home the award for Outstanding Drama Series while Ted Lasso scooped the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series.
WandaVision didn’t win Emmy’s?? Come on Elizabeth Olsen’s acting was so good, I cried by the end of the show 🙁

WandaVision didn’t need the Emmys, the Emmys needed it. You don’t just nominate a show that many times and have it lose it all for no reason.

Taking place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision focuses on Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, as she attempts to deal with her grief at losing Vision. To cope with her trauma, she uses her terrifying abilities to create a simulated reality wherein Vision was never killed by Thanos and the two live in wedded bliss through the lens of various sitcom eras.
Upon its debut, WandaVision was a smashing success with both fans and critics alike. While the slow and often weird burn of the show turned some audiences away, it was widely praised for its impressive production values, faithful recreations of iconic TV comedies and moving performances.
WandaVision is currently available to stream through Disney+.
