After something of a break, Diamond Comic Distributors just released their first sales ranking charts in quite some time, covering the month of June. This is the first time they’ve released charts since last October.
Of course, the charts are somewhat short without DC included…and will be further shrunk when Marvel leaves in this coming October.
But it’s data! So let’s take a look!
Much as in the past, Venom was the #1 seller among periodical comics, coming out at #1 ahead of the much hyped Spawn’s Universe #1. However, Venom #35 was ALSO the 200th issue of the symbiote’s title, because numbers …and also the wrap up of the wildly successful Danny Cates/Ryan Stegman run.
Boom’s Keanu-themed Brzrkr #3 came in at #7, while regular Spawn #319 came in at #10. Other non-Marvel top sellers:
IDW Publishing’s Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #5, an all-ages comic set two centuries before the era of Luke Skywalker and the original Star Wars trilogy, was their top book at #66.
Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmietti, and Mortitat’s sword-and-sorcery adventure for Dynamite Entertainment, The Invincible Red Sonja #2, was the publisher’s top book at #91.
Dark Horse Comics’ Young Hellboy: The Hidden Land #4, the conclusion of the mini-series by Mike Mignola, Tom Sniegoski, and Craig Rousseau, ranked #106 for the month.
Over at the Graphic Novel charts, Vol. 3 of James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera’s Something is Killing the Children from BOOM! came in at #1, followed by five Marvel titles, Invincible (buoyed by the Amazon cartoon no doubt), Tynion’s Department of Truth Vol 1, and two from Viz, including the latest My Hero Academia.
Diamond also included charts for toys and games, but many other features of the Before Times charts were missing: publisher ranks, pie charts, comparative stats for previous months and years, charts ranking top sellers by dollars, and even a folder with cover image of the top sellers.
But best not to mourn the past but rather the celebrate the present: here are the charts. Analysis from other chart watchers to come. And Diamond also released the full charts which we’ll be posting after some formatting.
