Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff film Venom: Let There Be Carnage returns to select theaters on Friday, Jan. 14.
Marvel fans have another chance to catch Venom: Let There Be Carnage on the big screen, with the sequel to 2018’s Venom returning to select theaters this week.
As announced via an official promo posted to the Venom: Let There Be Carnage Twitter account, Sony’s most recent Spider-Man spinoff film will once again be playing in select theaters starting this Friday, Jan. 14. For those who would prefer to stay home, however, Sony reminds fans that Let There Be Carnage is also currently available for purchase on Blu-Ray, 4K Ultra HD and Digital.
Directed by Andy Serkis from a screenplay by Kelly Marcel, Let There Be Carnage originally released in theaters in the United States on Oct. 1, 2021. Picking up after the events of 2018’s Venom, the sequel rejoins Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy), who is still struggling to adapt to his new life bonded to the Klyntar (i.e. symbiote) known as Venom. This time around, the pair have a new adversary in the form of serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), who was introduced at the end of the first film and becomes significantly more dangerous when he finds a symbiote partner of his own: Carnage.
Like Hardy and Harrelson, Michelle Williams, Reid Scott and Peggy Lu all return from the first Venom film, reprising their respective roles of Anne Weying, Dan Lewis and Mrs. Chen. Let There Be Carnage also features a number of newcomers in the form of Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison/Shriek, Stephen Graham as Patrick Mulligan (who Marvel Comics fans will know as the alter ego of Toxin), Sian Webber as Camille Pazzo and Larry Olubamiwo as a guard at the Ravencroft Institute.
As the sequel to Venom, Let There Be Carnage is the second entry in Sony’s franchise of live-action Marvel spinoff films starring the members of Spider-Man’s rogues gallery. Another Marvel anti-hero joins the fray later this year in Sony’s Morbius, which stars Jared Leto as Morbius the Living Vampire. Following a number of delays, Morbius was previously expected to hit theaters this month on Jan. 28. However, the film was delayed once more, and is now scheduled for release on April 1. Meanwhile, a third entry in the Venom saga is currently in development, as is a Kraven the Hunter film starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role.
