This week’s data for the UK’s boxed charts is finally with us and we are seeing a slightly quieter week from Nintendo this time around.
As we have come to expect, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was once again the highest-selling game on the Switch. This week the title only made it to fourth place however, after a strong start from Hogwarts Legacy and the continued success of both God of War Ragnarok and FIFA 23 meant that even the likes of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet didn’t make it to the top ten (Violet lands in 13th place, while Scarlet sits at 19).
Of course, it’s not all doom and gloom from Nintendo. Chart-favourites Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nintendo Switch Sports and Minecraft continue to sell well, while the week also sees the surprise return of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe to the top ten.
This is likely due to the game’s physical edition recently dropping in price at many retailers. We have seen the same trend for a few other Mario titles this week, contributing to booming numbers for Mario Strikers: Battle League, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury and Mario Tennis Aces, all of which have soared up the charts to land in 12th, 15th and 17th places respectively.
