The Wii U generation saw Nintendo embrace online gaming more than the previous generations, and even third-party developers took advantage of this. Unfortunately, these kinds of services have to eventually wind down, and Ubisoft has decided now is the time to call time on the online features in three Wii U titles.
The official Ubisoft website reveals the French publisher and developer will be closing online services for a selection of older games including Assassin’s Creed 3, Rayman Legends and ZombiU on the Wii U. This decision is so Ubisoft can focus all of its resources on delivering great experiences for players who are enjoying newer and more popular titles.
This list also covers some PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC releases. After September 1st – Wii U players will no longer be able to link Ubisoft accounts in-game or use online features (this includes multiplayer in Assassin’s Creed 3). See the full list of games across all platforms on Ubisoft’s website. Ubisoft also ended online services for a bunch of other games earlier this year.
