Tom Holland Wants His Spider-Man to Team Up With Charlie Cox’s Daredevil

Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Tom Holland has teamed up with his fellow Spider-Men, and would now like to fight alongside Charlie Cox’s Daredevil.

The surprise appearances by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home have dominated discussion about the film, pushing another surprise cameo into the background: that of Charlie Cox, star of Marvel Studios’ Daredevil on Netflix. And No Way Home star Tom Holland says he would love to see Cox’s Daredevil fight alongside his version of Spider-Man.

“Working with Charlie was incredibly exciting,” Holland told The Hollywood Reporter. “I was a big fan of the Daredevil series, and I think he’s a fantastic actor. He’s done a wonderful job with that character, and albeit it was a small cameo, it obviously teased the future of what could be.”

“It was a real actors’ piece, that scene,” Holland said. “We blocked the scene, which was essentially us just sitting there, and we read the lines. It was great. It felt like an actors’ workshop while working with people I really look up to, and Charlie was a lot of fun.”

“It was really cool to see him snap back into a character that I am really a fan of and that he has a lot of love for, obviously. So it was pretty awesome, and I hope that one day we find a way for Spider-Man and Daredevil to team up again.”

Cox doesn’t suit up as Daredevil in No Way Home, although the character is forced to quickly demonstrate his enhanced skills. In the film, Murdock provides legal aid to Peter Parker after Peter’s identity as Spider-Man was exposed and he was framed for murder by Quentin Beck. Murdock gets the charges dropped, but Peter still faces troubles beyond his legal ones. The reveal happened in the mid-credits scene of Spider-Man: Far from Home.

Prior to No Way Home’s release, fans had speculated Maguire and Garfield would makes appearances in the film. But few anticipated the brief but important appearance by Cox, whose cameo served to confirm Daredevil — and the other Marvel Netflix series such as The Punisher and Jessica Jones — exist within current Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity. Daredevil ran for three seasons on Netflix before the network canceled the entire slate of Marvel series, but Daredevil has seen a resurgence in popularity in the wake of No Way Home.

Daredevil arch-foe and crime boss Wilson Fisk, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, further cemented the connection between the MCU and Netflix series when the character appeared in Hawkeye on Disney+.

Spider-Man and Daredevil have frequently teamed up throughout their histories in the comics. Fisk — more commonly known in comics as The Kingpin — in fact started out as primarily a Spider-Man villain before also becoming a major foe for Daredevil.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently playing in theaters. Daredevil continues to stream on Netflix.
