Tokyo Revengers is an anime series that tells the story of a boy named Takemichi, who gains the ability to travel through time. With this power, he decides to save the people he cares about from death. In order to do so, he joins a gang called Toman, putting himself in danger, but making new friends and feeling better about himself along the way.
As the main character of the series, Takemichi had some really important things to say throughout the series, and had great monologues, whether he inspired his comrades during battles or said something meaningful to his loved ones.
6 “Quit Acting Like You’re A Couple Of Dumb Punks. Just Look What You Bastards Have Done To All My Precious Memories. You Selfish Jerks Have Just Destroyed Everything I Ever Loved From My Entire Childhood.”
When Takemichi first befriended Draken and Mikey, they did not treat him well. After Pah was arrested, Draken and Mikey both visited Takemichi. Because the two were angry at each other at the time due to their different perspectives on what happened to Pah, Mikey and Draken began fighting each other. They destroyed a lot of Takemichi’s things in the process.
Finally standing up for himself, Takemichi said these words. Though things looked bad, they were all able to forgive each other shortly after, and Draken and Mikey started treating Takemichi better afterward.
5 “You Haven’t Seen The Last Of Me Yet, You Bastards! I, I’m Not Going Down That Easy, You Valhalla A**holes! I’m Still Standing, Damn It! I’m Gonna, I’m Gonna End All Of You! So Just Bring It On!”
When Toman and Valhalla fought each other, Takemichi was scared to fight at first. However, after he and Chifuyu teamed up in the middle of the battle, Takemichi understood that there was no backing down and fought well against his opponents.
Though he was hurt, he got back up and said these words, encouraging his comrades to keep fighting. He may not have been able to do much as he could barely move, but the crybaby hero helped Toman in the battle the best way he could, by inspiring his stronger comrades to defeat their enemies.
4 “That’s Not True, Naoto. The Reason Our Saving Draken Didn’t Change Anything, Is Because His Death Wasn’t The Reason Toman Became Evil. When Hina Died Right In Front Of Me, I Realized Something As I Watched The Flames Rise. We Have To Attack The Source. Take Down Toman! It Can Happen If I Become The Head Of Toman In The Past.”
When Hinata died in front of Takemichi, he vowed that he would keep going back in time, no matter how many times it took, if it meant he’d be able to save her. During her funeral, he spoke with Naoto, who said that everything they worked for was for nothing. This was Takemichi’s response.
Though Naoto didn’t think that Takemichi’s plan to become Toman’s leader could be done, he wanted to try it anyway, and the two of them began working together again in order to save their loved ones.
3 “Stop! What The Hell Are You Talking About? Who’s The Crazy One Here, Akkun? I Don’t Even Recognize You, Man! You Were Always So Cool, Calm, & Collected. You Were Always Willing To Sacrifice Yourself For Your Friends. You Were Kind. We Could Count On You! So, So, It Has To Be A Lie. I Can’t Believe You Would Ever Have Tried To Kill Me. You’re My Friend, Akkun!”
When Takemichi and Akkun met each other years after going their separate ways, Akkun revealed that he was the one who pushed Takemichi onto the train tracks, planning to kill him, and causing him to go back in time in the first place.
Takemichi was shocked by this and understood that Akkun wasn’t the same person he used to be, saying these words. Afterward, Akkun told him some of the things that led Toman to change, and killed himself, hoping that Takemichi would be able to go back in time and save everyone that he could.
2 “I Did The Best I Could, Hina. It Hurts, It Sucks, But I Really Did My Best To Fix Things, & Yet, & Yet I Haven’t Really Changed Anything At All! I Haven’t Managed To Save Anyone! But Then What Else Was I Expecting? How The Hell Was A Complete & Utter Failure Like Me Ever Supposed To Have A Snowball’s Chance In Hell At Saving Anyone? How Stupid Can I Be?”
After Draken and Mikey became friends again, Takemichi thought that Draken wouldn’t die on August 3rd, causing him to let his guard down. However, when August 3rd came around, Takemichi found out that Kiyomasa had planned to kill Draken.
Kiyomasa beat and tied Takemichi up when they encountered each other, making him feel like he failed to save his friends. Hinata found him and came to his rescue. After he said this to her, she kissed him and told him how strong her feelings for him were.
1 “In The Future, In The Past, Always & Forever. I’ll Love You.”
After he thought that he had completely changed the timeline, Takemichi was able to reunite with Hinata in the present. However, when he had gone into the restroom, he encountered Hanma, who had mentioned that Takemichi was supposed to be in the car. Terrified by what that meant, Takemichi ran over to Naoto’s car, which Hinata was in. However, on his way, another car, which Akkun drove, crashed into it. Hinata’s legs were broken and she wasn’t able to get out.
Knowing that she was about to die again, Takemichi said these words and hugged her. Afterward, she pushed him out of the car, saving his life, and giving him a second chance to change the future.
