The Witcher: Witchmas Returns Ahead of Season 2

[ad_1]

Leading up to the highly anticipated release of The Witcher Season 2, fans will have a chance to vote on six gifts during the second “Witchmas” event.

Before the 2021 holiday season gives the gift of The Witcher Season 2, fans will be able to participate in a seasonally-themed campaign teasing the Netflix series’ highly anticipated return.

“Witchmas,” a week-long social media event started by The Witcher’s official Twitter account last holiday season, has officially returned to gift fan-voted exclusive teaser content to audiences, leading into the show’s second season. “Destiny will be decided by a daily Witchmas vote,” the fantasy series’ Twitter proclaimed in anticipation of the week’s first poll, which allowed a choice between “Bravery” and “Law of Surprise.”

As with last year’s event, a daily vote between an offered gift and The Law of Surprise will determine what sneak peek or tidbit from the series fans will be gifted the following day. Last Witchmas’ gifts included a season one blooper reel, a bardic photoshoot of Geralt of Rivia’s resident hypeman Jaskier, a glimpse at the swords of Season 2 and the logo reveal for the animated film Nightmare of the Wolf.

Unlike last holiday season, Witcher fans now have assurances that a return to the Continent is just around the corner after  the COVID-19 pandemic and on-set accidents slowed production over the past year. This means that even more significant sneak peeks could be gained from this year’s Witchmas. A clip from a Leshen fight, released by Netflix earlier in the month, has already gotten fans excited for The Witcher’s second season, so there is no telling what additional surprises will arise from the holiday this year.

Speaking of surprises, The Law of Surprise was a popular choice among fans last Witchmas, with that option winning the daily poll during all but one day of the social media campaign. In this year’s first poll, fans have been given the option again, so it should come as no surprise that, much like last year, the Law of Surprise is already winning out.

However, despite fans favoring The Law of Surprise, the benevolent Witcher gods dumped all the unvoted sneak peek content at the end of the week-long event last year. This year’s Witchmas will run for six days as well, ending just in time for the ultimate holiday gift, the series’ long-awaited Season 2 premiere. However, as The Witcher‘s presence extends into an expanding universe on Netflix, it’s possible that some of this year’s Witchmas gifts may tease other upcoming Witcher projects, including the prequel series Witcher: Blood Origins.

The Witcher‘s second season, starring actor Henry Cavill as the stoic Geralt of Rivia, will be available to binge on Netflix starting Friday, Dec. 17.
