The Suicide Squad: Every Member Of Task Force X, Ranked

[ad_1]

Audiences became aquatinted with a new Task Force X in The Suicide Squad. There are certainly similarities between the original Task Force X and the new one, but audiences were treated to a wider array of miscreants this time. Unlike the first Suicide Squad, there were some members (spoiler ahead) that didn’t even make it 15 minutes into the film.

The others, however, were worthy of the original Task Force that Waller put together to fight the Enchantress. When each member is analyzed and dissected with a critical eye, it’s easy to see which members would survive and which would perish. (More Spoilers Ahead).

14 Weasel Couldn’t Swim & Almost Died Instantly

The Weasel The Suicide Squad Trailer

Not much is known about Weasel except that he had eaten a twenty seven children. But other than that not much is known about his origin. Weasel is ranked dead last because he really doesn’t have much to offer. He almost died jumping into the ocean to invade the Corto Maltese because Waller’s team didn’t teach him how to swim. If anything, Weasel is a liability and it’s incredible that he survived, not only from invading the Corto Maltese but from licking dirty surfaces.

13 Blackguard Betrayed The Squad In The Dumbest Way Possible

Pete Davidson Blackguard in The Suicide Squad

Not only is it dishonorable for Blackguard to betray his own team, but he did it in the most impulsive and stupidest way possible. Blackguard chose to give himself up as Task Force X prepared to invade the Corto Matlese. The only reason blackguard did this was because he assumed they knew he was on their side. The result is Blackguard getting his face blown off instantly. The only difference of usefulness between Blackguard and Weasel is that Blackguard can swim.

12 The Detachable Kid’s Unimaginative Name Matches His Pointless Skill

Don’t take this the wrong way. Having the ability to detach one’s limbs from their body can probably prove useful. But The Detachable Kid was not right for the invasion of Corto Maltese. The only ability TDK was able to bring to the brutal battle was using his detachable arms to slap around soldiers. This attack was short lived as he ended up getting shot by the Corto Maltese. To also add, the name “The Detachable Kid” isn’t that clever, as pointed out by Harley Quinn during the battle.

11 Mongal’s Efforts Killed Herself & Captain Boomerang

Like most of the other members of the doomed squad, not much is known about Mongal from the movie alone. She was an alien warrior who took part in the Jotunheim mission under Amanda Waller’s watch. The invasion of the Corto Maltese’s army was a bloodbath so it’s hard to blame one person. But Mongal made a bad situation worse and didn’t listen to Rick Flag and attempted to take down a helicopter, which killed herself and Captain Boomerang. From what viewers have seen, there’s not a lot of points to be awarded to Mongal.

10 Savant Proved To Be Too Scared For The Mission

The-Suicide-Squad-Savant

The introduction to Savant, played by Michael Rooker, was pretty gritty. Savant used his genius to throw a tennis ball at the exact spot to bounce off a wall and kill a bird that flown into his cell. Rooker brought that jagged look that he had when he played Yondu in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. But that fell by the way side after he deserted the mission during the Corto Maltese attack. There was a lot of hope for Savant to be a major player, but his cowardice ended up costing him hands of Amanda Waller.

9 It’s A Miracle Polka-Dot Man Survived As Long As He Did

Polka Dot Man The Suicide Squad

The backstory of Polka-Dot Man is the strongest thing and most compelling thing about the character. A modern day, superhero version of Norman Bates, Polka-Dot Man developed his powers as a result of his mother’s experiments. While his origin justifies his existence in the film, Polka-DotMan’s only ability is shooting out polka-dots. Polka-Dot Man’s power is also a curse, seeing as he needed polka-dots to excrete from his body or he will be consumed by him. Polka-Dot Man was a decent asset to the team which bumped him up in rank. But it’s honestly surprising he lived as long as he did.

8 Javelin Proved Useful In The Overall Mission

This is another example of a superhero with a name that some may say is lacking in creativity. But Javelin also played a major part in the team’s eventual defeat of Starro by handing over his javelin to Harley, deeming her the most worthy to carry it.

Javelin never had the chance to expand on his decision as he died on the beach before elaborating. But he’s one of the most necessary members of the failed group that got destroyed.

7 Ratcatcher 2 Has A Ton Of Compassion & An Odd Ability

The Suicide Squad Ratcatcher 2

Ratcatcher 2 seemed very out of place among hopeless criminals sent on a suicide mission. She is very caring, compassionate, and understanding. This may coincide with her unusual ability to summons rats, a creature that is largely discarded by society. Even Ratcatcher 2 had the power to torture Bloodsport to her own advantage. Yet, she remained a good listener and stayed astonishingly kind, even when King Shark attempted to eat her. Most importantly, she knew when her skills were serviceable, such as using rats to overpower Starro. Ratcatcher 2 proved that if rats have a purpose, than everybody has one.

6 Captain Boomerang Has A Unique Skill That Can Come in Handy

Jai Courtney said that Captain Boomerang is “the first dude you want to drink with, but the last dude you want to be left at the bar with.” Besides Harley and Rick, Captain Boomerang was the most competent of the failed Task Force team. Captain Boomerang was a mercenary with insanely good reflexive skills that allowed him to use a boomerang as a weapon. His accuracy is pretty precise and can almost rival Deadshot. Sadly, his reflexes didn’t assist him with dodging a crashing helicopter at the last minute. Had he survived, Captain Boomerang would have been a solid addition to Task Force X.

5 King Shark Is A Powerful Asset Due To His Brute Strength

King Shark Wild Games

Unlike Weasel, whose only skill is eating children, King Shark is a metahuman who proved convenient to the mission because he had an incredible amount of strength. He possessed a supreme amount of durability and stamina, which is always nice to have when breaking into a fortress. Waller said that King Shark was the strongest one on the team and very necessary to break into the Jotunheim. Much like Ratchcather 2, King Shark had a very friendly side, despite trying to eat his friend. But at the end of the day nobody’s perfect.

4 Peacemaker Is A Fantastic Assassin, But Follows Order To A Fault

peacemaker

It’s easy to see why Peacemaker would be chosen by Waller for Task Force X. Out of all the foolish misfits that have a high probability of getting killed, Peacemaker is probably the most fit to survive. Much like Batman, Peacemaker had reached the pinnacle of human strength and endurance. He’s also a top notch marksmen, with the mastery to shoot a bullet through an oncoming bullet.

Peacemaker’s weakness, however, is his narrow perspective that in order to achieve peace, one has to kill anyone deemed an obstacle. Peacemaker never contextualized the ethical dilemma of covering the United States’ role in Starro, as he decided to obey the orders. He also forgot to wear clothes from time to time.

3 Rick Flag’s Ethics Matches His Combat Skills

Rick Flag on The Suicide Squad poster

Rick Flag doesn’t possess any super hero abilities and may not be as strong as Peacemaker. Rick’s biggest strength is his experiences. This makes Rick all the more impressive. He survived so many chaotic situations from fighting Enchantress to the infamous Corto Maltese battle. The fact that Rick can hang with all these crazy oddballs and their freakish abilities should’ve earned him a medal. But what’s even more impressive is Rick’s discernment for right and wrong, which is why he refused to enable with covering up the truth about Starro. Rick Flag didn’t have any superpowers but he’s the most heroic member.

2 Bloodsport Is A Born Leader Whether He Admits It Or Not

The-Suicide-Squad-Bloodsport-Tyla

Bloodsport is the reluctant hero of the film. While he would rather have nothing to do with Task Force X, he agreed to help in exchange for getting his daughter out of prison. Bloodsport’s abilities aren’t outstanding in comparison to his teammates. He’s a hired gun just like everyone else. What made Bloodsport a good leader was his quiet confidence in addition to his prowess. The best example of this occurred when the Corto Maltese captured Flag, Peacemaker, and Bloodsport. Bloodsport led the three of them to kill the soldiers with a precise strike while handcuffed, and did so with stunning ease. Bloodsport also demonstrated the courage to defy Waller and led Task Force X to fight Starro. Bloodsport’s leadership skills alone make him invaluable.

1 Harley Quinn Is A Badass In Every Way Possible

the suicide squad harley quinn

This shouldn’t come as a surprise. There’s a distinct reason Javelin chose Harley to carry his javelin. What Harley lacks in mental stability she makes up for in combat expertise. She’s survived trauma, abuse, and any dangerous situation imaginable. She’s also self-sufficient, as proven by the fact the Task Force’s rescue mission to save her proved pointless as Harley managed to escape herself. Harley’s crazy antics may be why she’s the most valuable on the team: she doesn’t process fear like others do. One key takeaway is that viewers watched Harley overcome her own weakness for toxic relationships, as she shot Corto Maltese leader Silvio Luna when she spotted red flags. Harley may be insane but there’s no one with that can truly match her wild courage.
