Warner Bros.’ new poster for The Secrets of Dumbledore shows a fiery phoenix flying below Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Warner Bros. recently debuted the first official poster for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, which appears to depict a fiery phoenix flying near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The poster was shared on the official Fantastic Beasts Twitter account and shows the magical creature, who is believed to be Albus Dumbledore’s longtime companion Fawkes the Phoenix, flying over the lake below the school while on fire. The caption posted alongside the image read, “Return to the magic. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore only in theaters April 15, 2022. #SecretsOfDumbledore.”
The poster itself also features the film’s title and release date in silver text, along with the tagline, “Return to the Magic.” The image was shared about a week after the official trailer for the Secrets of Dumbledore premiered.
That sneak peek appeared to reveal the film will take place during an election year within the wizarding world and showed various buildings adorned with colorful banners promoting different candidates. The clip also teased Mads Mikkelsen’s Grindelwald has been working with Dumbledore’s long-lost brother Aurelius (Ezra Miller), who grew up under the name Credence Barebone, and that the biggest wizard duel yet is on the horizon.
Following the trailer’s release, fans of the Fantastic Beasts franchise have been begging Mikkelsen to return to Instagram. Fans specifically took to Twitter to respond to his latest post on the platform, which was published in December 2020. Comments included messages such as, “Mads, pleaseeeee come back [to] Instagram, we love you so muchhhh. don’t listen to haters! come back for your fans! I was a Potter Head, but now, with you, this amazing story is more magical than before. please just come back!” It was initially believed the Danish actor abruptly deleted his account following critics flooding his page with hate over Warner Bros.’ decision to have him replace Johnny Depp as Dumbledore’s longtime foe.
At the time Mikkelsen’s casting was announced, the actor explained how his version of Grindelwald would be different, saying in part “Well it’s going to be me, so that’s a difference…We’re still working it out. There has to be a bridge between what Johnny did and what I’m going to do. And at the same time, I also have to make it my own. But also we have to find a few links [to the previous version of the character] and some bridges so it doesn’t completely detach from what he’s already masterfully achieved.”
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore opens in theaters on April 15.
