The Power Rangers Were Just Rescued by the New Blue Ranger

After being defeated and stranded on an alien world, the Omega Rangers were rescued by a new Blue Ranger, who is their wildest member yet.

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Power Rangers #12, available now from Boom! Studios.

The Power Rangers are in dire straits and running out of hope for any sort of relief. On Earth, the Mighty Morphin team has come to the horrifying realization that their most powerful allies are nothing more than intergalactic despots, while out among the stars the Omega Rangers have been stranded on a desolate world. After seeing their last living god destroyed before their eyes, it seems like there is nothing that could save the Omega Rangers. As it turns out, Jason, Zack, and Trini aren’t alone, and they’ve just been saved by the new Blue Ranger in Power Rangers #12 (by Ryan Parrott, Francesco Mortarino, Raul Angulo, Jose Enrique Fernandez, and Ed Dukeshire).

It took the Omega Rangers months to hunt down the Yellow Emissary, although the Morphin deity was nothing like what they had expected. As opposed to the more benevolent Red or the quick-to-act Blue Emissaries, their Yellow counterpart actively tried to dissuade the heroes from searching them out. As they had foretold, the arrival of the Rangers brought only death and destruction as the Empyreals had been trailing them towards the last of their quarry in secret. Once the Empyreals arrived it was a short matter of time before the final Emissary was brutally destroyed, allowing for the last of the Empyreals to cross dimensions. With that, the Empyreals’ work was done, and the Rangers were left to suffer an untimely demise as the landscape crumbled around them. Just when Jason’s resolve was giving out, a bright blue barrier appeared to save him from the falling debris, and the one supplying the save is unlike any other Ranger that has come before.

Power Rangers #12 marks the first appearance of Yale as the new Omega Blue Ranger, and it’s a bit surprising that Jason didn’t immediately recognize him. The alien feline has been a part of the Omega Rangers’ lives since being introduced in 2020’s Go Go Power Rangers #31 (by Parrott, Sina Grace, and Francesco Mortarino), and in that time he has never given the team any real reason to doubt him.

The Rangers never expected Yale to show up in Omega armor to save them, but there are only so many giant cat aliens that the heroes know. There is also the fact that, as far as the Rangers are concerned, the Omega Blue Morpher was destroyed after the mad Ranger Kiya was defeated. Now that they once again have a fourth Ranger, there is no doubt that the Omegas will be able to pull through their current circumstances.

The Omega Rangers might be a full team again, but they are still horrifically outmatched by the Empyreals. Not only that, but they’ve been left stranded by Lord Drakkon, who has finally got around to betraying the heroes in a bold yet not shocking heel turn.

Assuming Yale can get his new teammates out of harm’s way, getting back into space will likely be someone else’s problem to solve. That is, unless Yale’s new powers also come with a new ship, or at least a Zord capable of making the trip into space.
