The Power Rangers Just Made a Devastating Discovery About Their Future

[ad_1]

The Omega Rangers have finally the brutal truth about the threat that they pose to the universe.

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Power Rangers #11, available now from Boom! Studios.

The Power Rangers have never been in a worse place than they are now, and that goes for both teams of superpowered heroes. While the Mighty Morphin team on Earth is making startling discoveries about their newest allies, the Omega Rangers out among the stars have been desperately searching for some way to stave off the Empyreal threat. Their most recent efforts have set them on track to meet with the last living god they have, the Yellow Emissary, and in meeting them face-to-face the Ranger have finally learned just how much their own success will cost the rest of the universe.

The Omega Rangers’ hunt for the Yellow Emissary has brought them to what appears to be the middle of nowhere in space, even though there is no mistaking that they are indeed at the right location. After touching down on a desolate landscape, it doesn’t take long for the Rangers to be confronted by an extension of the Yellow Emissary in the form of flowing robes which strike just as hard as the fists which would normally be adorned in them. The heroes aren’t sure why they’ve come under attack, but the Emissary makes the situation perfectly clear as it speaks through its robes. Power Rangers #11 by Ryan Parrott, Francesco Mortarino, Raul Angulo, Jose Enrique Fernandez, and Ed Dukeshire sees the Rangers’ last living god lay bare just how dangerous the heroes have become without even realizing it. As far as the Emissary is concerned, keeping the Power Rangers at bay is the only way to save the universe from them, and from itself.

While the battles that the Rangers have been fighting have certainly been groundbreaking, there is no doubt that the Power Rangers have been fighting on the right side of them. This makes the Emissary’s claims all the more difficult to understand, though the deity seems certain in its assumptions. Of course, as a being connected directly to the Morphin Grid and made up of its energies, the Yellow Emissary can see through the veil of time unlike other beings. So far, this hasn’t helped it or its brethren save themselves, even if it has given them some truly unique viewpoints. Currently, the branching path that the Yellow Emissary can see laid out before it has two directions it can take. If the Omega Rangers fall in battle, the universe survives, but the Emissary promises that if they are victorious only devastation will follow. It’s a horrifying thing to hear, as well as an almost ludicrous one. Unfortunately, it is also unlikely that the Emissary is wrong. Despite the fact that the Power Rangers as fans know them are an unwavering force for good, their origins are tainted with deception, betrayal, and outright genocide at the hands of the Guardians of Eltar. Even today, they are the reason that the Empyreals have returned in the first place, and the Rangers defeating the immediate alien threat could very well leave them helpless to stop any invasion that follows.

This is just one possibility, but it is the most obvious. At the same time, it isn’t a particularly likely scenario considering how dedicated the Empyreals seem to be to their Eltarian overlord. Finding the Yellow Emissary might have been the Omega Rangers’ best shot at learning how to defeat the Empyreals, but all it has left them with is more questions than answers. If nothing else, they at least have a better idea of what they’re dealing with, even if beating it has become a losing proposition in and of itself.
