Marvel Comics presents an exclusive preview of Cable: Reloaded #1, by Al Ewing and Bob Quinn.
Marvel Comics has given CBR an exclusive preview of Cable: Reloaded #1, by Al Ewing and Bob Quinn. The preview sees the original, older version of Nathan Summers back in action after his return at the end of Gerry Duggan and Phil Noto’s Cable series earlier this year.
Introduced during the Extermination storyline in 2018, the younger version of Cable has been a key character in the various adventures of the X-Men, particularly since the mutant nation of Krakoa was founded. This allowed him to spend more time with his family and even fall in love with Esme, one of the Stepford Cuckoos. However, the appearance of Stryfe — an evil clone of Cable — forced the younger version of Nathan to bring back his older self to help. In the end, Stryfe was defeated and the younger Cable opted to go back to his own timeline.
CBR’s preview for Cable: Reloaded #1 shows the older hero back in action. At the start of the preview, Cable is above Breakworld, a planet in a constant state of war, in the Graymalkin II space station. Soon, Cable departs from the Graymalkin II and prepares to fight the entire planet, noting that the purpose of his various pouches is, in fact, to hold his bullets.
While any direct ties to the story are unclear in the preview, Cable: Reloaded #1 is part of the “Last Annihilation” event. That crossover sees Dormammu — a classic enemy of Doctor Strange — merging with Ego the Living Planet and using his newfound abilities to wreak havoc in an attempt to conquer space.
