The Mandalorian stuntman Brendan Wayne hints that the highly-anticipated third season takes a back-to-basics approach to its lead character.
Stuntman Brendan Wayne — who serves as one of the body doubles for Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin on The Mandalorian — recently hinted that Season 3 of the Star Wars television series will get back to the basics with respect to its main protagonist.
“I think we’ve introduced the world in which Mando exists now,” Wayne said during an appearance on the Star Wars Sessions podcast. “Not that there aren’t going to be new things, I’m sure… I think there will be a lot less introductions, and a lot more going back towards the first season of delving deeper into the character and things like that I think.”
Wayne clarified, “Have I read one script? No. Have I heard some things? Sure. So I’m guessing. But I can tell you this. If anyone’s going to be able to continue telling a story, it’s Jon [Favreau]. And raising the stakes? It’s Jon.”
Wayne’s comments about The Mandalorian Season 3 come just weeks after it was reported that the season would arrive later than initially thought. Currently, Season 3 isn’t expected to begin filming until late 2021 or early 2022, which would give it an approximate release window of late 2022. However, it also came to light that The Book of Boba Fett would serve as “The Mandalorian Season 2.5″ when it premieres this December.
Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Disney+.
