The Mandalorian star Carl Weathers has confirmed that the Star Wars series’ highly-anticipated third season will begin filming within the next month.

Weathers also confirmed that, in addition to reprising his role as Greef Karga, he will once again sit in the director’s chair for The Mandalorian Season 3. “I get to be in front of camera again, and I get to direct again,” he explained. Weathers previously helmed “Chapter 12: The Siege,” the fourth episode of The Mandalorian Season 2 and the show’s 12th episode overall.

While it was once believed that The Mandalorian Season 3 would arrive late this year, it’s now become clear that it likely won’t hit Disney+ until sometime in 2022. Rather, this winter belongs to the spinoff series The Book of Boba Fett, which reports have described as “The Mandalorian Season 2.5.”
