As Summer 2021 continues in earnest and July hits its halfway mark, the 2020-2021 regular television season wraps up while the summer television season has already begun with some heavy hitters premiering on Hulu, Netflix and HBO Max. The Arrowverse wraps up its latest season while a fresh wave of anime films and next-gen video games dominate this past week’s trailers

Here are all the biggest trailers, teasers and promos released this past week, previewing some of the biggest upcoming offerings in television, film and video games.

American Horror Stories

The American Horror Story spinoff anthology series, the aptly titled American Horror Stories, is now available to stream on Hulu, with a promo teasing how the spinoff differs from the main series. Hosted by Rubber Man and Rubber Woman, the two characters clumsily introduce the premise for the spinoff while dressed in their form-fitting costumes.

Created by Ryan Murphy, American Horror Stories stars Dyllon Burnside, Nico Greetham, Kevin McHale, Charles Melton, Matt Bomer, Taissa Farmiga, Evan Peters, Sierra McCormick, Kaia Gerber and Paris Jackson, among others. The series is available to stream on Hulu.

FIFA 22

While soccer fans may have to wait until next year for the World Cup, FIFA 22 is being launched on next-gen consoles this October to help them survive the wait. Boasting Electronic Arts’ new HyperMotion technology, the new game engine provides hyper-realistic animations in-game while also helping make ball control more fluid and intuitive than ever.

Developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania, FIFA 22 will available worldwide on Oct. 1 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The Flash

The Flash Season 7 finale is rapidly approaching, culminating in a showdown against Godspeed for the fate of Central City. As Barry Allen confronts the villainous August Heart inside of Godspeed’s own mind, Barry and Iris’ children XS and Impulse race against time to stop Heart’s army of drones from completely razing the city.

The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Kayla Compton and Brandon McKnight. New episodes air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

Sing a Bit of Harmony

Funimation has unveiled the latest trailer for its co-produced anime film Sing a Bit of Harmony, following a high school misfit named Satomi who befriends a new classmate named Shion. As Satomi and Shion get to know each other better, he learns that his new friend is actually an experimental artificial intelligence and seeks to protect her from the company that created her as it seeks to reassert its control.

Directed by Yasuhiro Yoshiura, Sing a Bit of Harmony premieres in Japan on Oct. 29, with a North American theatrical release date currently unspecified.

Superman & Lois

As Superman’s conflict with his long-lost half-brother Tal-Rho continues, the Man of Steel flirts with cutting loose and unleashing the full extent of his powers in an upcoming episode of Superman & Lois. As Superman confesses to Lois Lane that not having to hold back feels good, Tal-Rho tempts him to not place limitations on himself to become a god.

Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Dylan Walsh, Alex Garfin, Jordan Elsass, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Inde Navarrette and Wolé Parks. The series airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Super Monkey Ball, Sega is releasing Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, compiling remastered courses from the original two games and 2005’s Super Monkey Ball Deluxe. A gameplay trailer showcases three of the upcoming game’s worlds, along with a set of new characters and features that is sure to thrill new and veteran players.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania rolls out October 5 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Titans

Titans prepares to go to Gotham City for its third season, with a new trailer teasing the impending retirement of Bruce Wayne from the mantle of Batman while Jason Todd assumes the mantle of Red Hood. And as the Titans prepare to take on Scarecrow for the fate of the city, Tim Drake and Barbara Gordon join the fight, giving the Titans some much-needed support.

Titans stars Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Ryan Potter, Curran Walters, Conor Leslie, Minka Kelly, Alan Ritchson, Joshua Orpin, Vincent Kartheiser, Damaris Lewis, Savannah Welch and Jay Lycurgo. Season 3 premieres Aug. 12 on HBO Max.

Turning Red

After releasing Luca this past month, Pixar has already provided a first look teaser trailer for its next feature film Turning Red. Due out this March, the film follows a girl named Mei Lee who transforms into a giant red panda whenever she gets uncontrollably excited. As Mei Lee contends with her strange power, she also faces her complicated relationship with her mother Ming.

Written and directed by Domee Shi, Turning Red stars Rosalie Chiang and Sandra Oh. The film will be released March 11.

Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop

The emotional anime film Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop has released a musical teaser trailer set to the song “Yamazakura” performed by Reiko Ohnuki. Following the summertime friendship between a shy boy named Cherry and a friendly girl named Smile, with the latter wearing a mask to hide her braces, Cherry must overcome his introversion if he wants to let Smile know how he feels about her before his extended vacation ends.

Directed by Kyohei Ishiguro and written by Dai Satou, Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop stars Somegorou Ichikawa and Hana Sugisaki and is scheduled to release in Japanese theaters and on Netflix July 22.

Y: The Last Man

Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s acclaimed comic book series Y: The Last Man is coming to FX on Hulu this September and a new teaser trailer explains the adaptation’s dystopian science fiction plot. In the span of a single day, all men on Earth died out with the exception of the unassuming young man Yorick Brown, as the women attempt to rebuild civilization and learn what makes Yorick so special.

Based on DC’s Vertigo series by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, Y: The Last Man stars Diane Lane, Ben Schnetzer, Ashley Romans, Diana Bang, Olivia Thirlby, Juliana Canfield, Marin Ireland, Amber Tamblyn, Paul Gross and Elliot Fletcher. The series premieres Monday, Sept. 13 on FX on Hulu.
