The Justice League Are Dinosaurs Now, But Are They The Right Ones?

[ad_1]

The arrival of the Jurassic League begs the ultimate question: what would be the perfect dinosaur for each of DC’s greatest heroes?

The Jurassic League, DC’s brand new six issue mini-series by Daniel Warren Johnson and Juan Gedeon coming May 10th 2022, is a radical take on the DC universe. The members of the Justice League are not simply placed into a prehistoric Earth amongst the dinosaurs: they ARE the dinosaurs. Re-imagining the most famous heroes and villains in the DC universe as dinosaurs is guaranteed to provide a ludicrous amount of fun and excitement for longtime fans of the Justice League.

But this begs the question: which dinosaurs should the Justice League be? Applying the powers of each Justice League member to the optimal dinosaur is integral in ensuring that the villainy of prehistoric Earth is fought against by the best of the best. Let’s take a look at some of the most optimal iterations of the Jurassic League that could happen as each member of the JLA is attributed to their own dinosaur.

Superman is the single greatest hero in the DC universe so it would only make sense to represent him with one of the largest, most powerful dinosaurs of all time. The flight, the limitless power, and the invulnerability that Superman is famous for contained within the mighty body of a T-Rex would result in the greatest living creature to ever have walked (or flown over) the Earth.

Lithe, agile, ruthless: these are words that best describe Batman. Imagine the world’s most capable hand to hand combatant, armed to the teeth with countless weapons and armaments, contained within the body of the Deinonychus. Prehistoric criminals would never see him coming.

A graceful warrior soaring through the sky, an angel of combat descending down upon evil-doers below. Wonder Woman as an Allosaurus would be a perfect representation of her powers, strength, and dignity as a member of the Justice League coupled with the raw and terrifying power of one of Earth’s greatest apex predators.

The vicious ruler of the seas, the Dakosaur is a perfect match for Aquaman. Large and intimidating, seeing the great reptile wield the mighty Trident of Neptune would instill fear the hearts of any who dared opposed him, above or below the waves.

With his iconic green skin and large skull, Martian Manhunter is one of the most recognizable members of the Justice League. The Pachycephalosaur, also green and possessing a characteristically large head, would be the ideal choice for the shapeshifting Martian.

Wielding the powerful green Power Ring, Green Lantern is equipped with the ability to conjure up any physical construct he can imagine as well as the power of flight. What better dinosaur to bear the mantle of Green Lantern than the winged Pteranodon, meting out justice from the skies above?

The Flash, The Fastest Man Alive, could only be represented with the fastest dinosaur to ever have existed: the Ornithomimid. A blur of scarlet, the sonic boom of the sound barrier being broken, and those that would terrorize the ancient world would find themselves defeated in a flash.

Imagine: The World’s Greatest Archer with the ability to gaze out across the treetops. Green Lantern’s unerring marksmanship combined with the excellent vantage point the elongated neck of a Brachiosaurus would result in a hero that could pick enemies off long before they even came close to the Jurassic League.

Half organic mass and half machine, Cyborg is a walking marriage of technology and flesh. As a Stegosaurus Cyborg would benefit from its many large spinal plates as the uses for them are numerous. Data storage, solar panels, energy conductors: Cyborg is powerful enough in the body of a human, but with the capabilities presented to him with the body of a stegosaurus he would be even more powerful.

The resident magic user of the Justice League, Zatanna is best known for her ability to speak backwards in order to cast spells and for her iconic performer’s outfit. The cranial crest of the Parasaurolophus, extending above its head, is equally as iconic for the dinosaur. Fusing the two would result in a potent bipedal dinosaur, replete with magic casting abilities and a stylish crest that could double as a hat.
