The Good, The Bart and The Loki Homages Avengers and Thor 2 Scenes

With fans craving more of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, The Good, The Bart and The Loki homages two of the Asgardian trickster’s best MCU moments.

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for The Good, The Bart and The Loki, now available on Disney+.

Tom Hiddleston’s Loki has had quite a few epic moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s why fans adore the character, whether he’s a foe to the Avengers or redeeming himself in the Loki TV series. And make no mistake, The Simpsons has taken note of this as The Good, The Bart and The Loki pays homage to two of the Asgardian trickster’s best moments on the big screen.

The first comes after Odin banishes the God of Mischief to Springfield as punishment. At the behest of Bart, Loki tosses Lisa into an Asgardian prison only for her to return as Thor, with other citizens as the Springfield Avengers in tow. But as she apprehends Loki and throws him back to Asgard, it’s revealed Bart and Loki actually swapped places.

The Loki that’s kicked off Earth is really Bart, and the Bart in his bedroom is actually Loki. Homer comes in when he changes shape. But rather than scold Loki or ask for his son back, he just wants Loki to turn Flanders into a pork chop. Loki actually thinks he’s found a “normal” family at last. However, while this pokes fun at the family dynamic in Thor, it’s actually a tribute to Loki’s shape-shifting scheme from The Dark World.

There, he faked his death and proceeded to masquerade as Odin, ruling the throne until Thor figured out the ruse in Ragnarok. In The Simpsons short, Loki’s more successful with his conquest and gets the life he always wanted, apparently helping Homer engage in a warped form of cannibalism.

The second homage is more straightforward as it involves Ralph Wiggum as the Hulk. The usually awkward Ralph is green and in the Jade Giant’s iconic purple pants, telling Loki, “You’re not nice!” before slamming him around. He takes pleasure in it, mimicking the final act of 2012’s The Avengers. There, after Loki lost the Battle of New York, he tried to pull rank on the Green Goliath in Stark Tower only for Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk to grab him by the feet and smash him around comedically, walking off by demeaning Loki as a “puny god!”

Loki’ then asked for the drink Iron Man offered him afterward. In The Good, The Bart, and The Loki, Loki simply requests privacy after his beating. As for Ralph, the beatdown turns out to be a lot more triumphant and leaves him truly feeling like one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

The Good, The Bart and The Loki stars the voices of Dan Castellaneta, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Maurice LaMarche, Dawnn Lewis and Tom Hiddleston. The short is now available on Disney+.
