The Flash Just Ran Into a Major DC Crisis Character with a New Mission

[ad_1]

As Infinite Frontier reaches its climactic showdown on Earth Omega, a familiar figure from a past Crises makes their surprising and timely return.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Infinite Frontier #6, on sale now from DC.

Infinite Frontier has explored the implications of a reborn DC Multiverse and the long-lasting effects of the cataclysmic, reality-shaking crossover events between various universes and timelines that have unfolded for the past thirty years. As the DC Universe has grown increasingly aware of the existence of the multiverse and divergent timelines, characters have made dark deals with DC’s most evil god to mitigate such calamities from happening again. And in the wake of the heroes’ showdown with Darkseid on Earth Omega, a familiar face linked to the original Crisis has resurfaced. Pariah, the witness of dying worlds, is back, and he’s not happy.

Infinite Frontier #6 — by Joshua Williamson, Xermanico, Romulo Fajardo, Jr. and Tom Napolitano — has Justice Incarnate and Infinite Inc. team up to confront Darkseid and his team of supervillains on Earth Omega. The New God and Psycho-Pirate captured Barry Allen, forcing the Flash to run on a cosmic device that would prevent future crossovers between the expanding worlds and crack open the boundaries of the Omniverse for Darkseid to exploit for himself. As a frustrated Darkseid teleported the heroes away from the planet through his Omega Beams, Barry finally broke free and raced off to parts unknown as Darkseid’s plans fell apart. Finding himself apparently back at the site of his death during 1985’s Crisis on Infinite Earths, Barry is confronted by Pariah, who has big plans for the multiverse.

Pariah Infinite Frontier

Created by Wolfman and Perez, Pariah was a scientist on an alternate world named Kell Mossa whose experiments to witness the creation of the universe led to the Anti-Monitor becoming aware of a reality beyond the antimatter universe. As the Anti-Monitor began consuming an untold number of universes with an antimatter wave, Kell was cursed with traveling to each Earth moments before its destruction, warning its inhabitants in vain of their coming doom and referring to himself as Pariah. After the Anti-Monitor’s eventual defeat, Pariah joined Harbinger and Lady Quark to investigate the reborn universe. Years later, Pariah was killed in the lead-up to Infinite Crisis while trying to warn Lex Luthor of a coming Crisis, only to discover that the Luthor he was speaking with was Alexander Luthor, Jr. of Earth-3. Perpetuating the Crisis in the first place, this resulted in his murder in order to keep Luthor’s plans secret.

Resurfacing alive and well in the reborn multiverse following the crossover event Dark Nights: Death Metal, the toll of being ignored for years by countless worlds before watching innocents horribly die is visibly weighing on Pariah. The cosmic wanderer is now determined to ensure everyone has a happy ending at whatever the cost and transports Barry to an idyllic dinner scene with the rest of the Flash Family. Meanwhile, Pariah surveys this reality he has apparently made for Barry.

Infinite Frontier The Flash Pariah

No longer content in sitting on the sidelines, Pariah could present a formidable threat in trapping every character he comes across in a paradise as he envisions for them, whether his targets like it or not. How Pariah came back and developed the ability to create his own pocket universes is still unknown, but the unnerved scientist makes it clear that he has his own plans for the entire multiverse. And with Darkseid still on the loose and plotting his next course of action, Pariah may be the wild card that upends the New God’s plans.
