The latest episode of The Boys’ Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman promotes the power of Vought+, a new subscription program about the Seven and more.
In another demonstration of The Boys‘ dark pop culture satire, members of the Seven just advertised Vought International’s latest streaming service full of superhero content.
As part of a sponsored advertisement for The Boys‘ in-universe Tucker Carlson-inspired series Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman on Vought News Network, the Vought+ commercial opens with Homelander assuring viewers that “With Vought+, you have the power to control the greatest content in the world.” After a logo designed to resemble Disney+, it cuts to Homelander’s teammates Starlight, Queen Maeve, A-Train and Black Noir as they market various Vought+ channels, including some based off The Walt Disney Company’s subsidiaries. These include the superhero film and TV company Vought Studios, Vought News Network, the ESPN-inspired 7SPN with “24/7 coverage of your favorite sports teams” and an E!-based celebrity gossip channel.
Other examples of Vought+ media highlight the megacorporation’s diversity angle, such as Starlight and Maeve marketing “programs for women that tell the stories we want to see,” and A-Train showcasing the VoughtSoul channel. Even movies about former heroes killed throughout The Boys like Popclaw, Translucent and Lamplighter are given their own section in “Vought Classic,” with Homelander describing them as “heroes who may be gone but are never forgotten.”
Previous Vought News Network episodes have foreshadowed new details for Season 3 like the introduction of Starlight’s ex-boyfriend Supersonic, formally the hero Drummer Boy. However, updates about the debut of Soldier Boy, played by Supernatural star Jensen Ackles, have not yet been revealed. According to showrunner Eric Kripke, who previously created Supernatural, Ackles received the part of Soldier Boy through a phone call after he struggled to find an actor for the role.
Season 3 of The Boys is currently in production and a Season 4 was reportedly confirmed at the start of August. The next season will likely follow unresolved plot threads from the Season 2 finale, such as Hughie’s (Jack Quaid) tenure working under Congresswoman Victoria Neuman, who was revealed to be a secret metahuman responsible for various Vought whistleblower assassinations. Season 2 was nominated for five Emmy Awards, including Best Drama, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season or a Movie.
The Boys Season 3 does not yet have a release date. Both Season 1 and 2 are available to watch on Amazon Prime.
