The Best Fights In The MCU TV Shows, Ranked

[ad_1]

When it comes to a good fight scene, it’s not just a solid punch or high kick that makes it pop. The way the fight fits into the story, its surprise twists, and its emotional significance can all play a role in making a particular fight scene memorable. That’s just as true for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it expands into television programming.

When looking at the best fight scenes across the MCU’s television output, it’s hard to pin down what fits into the main timeline these days. The first three live action offerings on Disney+, however, definitely slot into the movie universe, and feature some excellent fight sequences.

10 Wanda’s Vision Takes On S.W.O.R.D.’s Vision In A Philosophical Duel

Vision vs. White Vision in WandaVision Episode 8

WandaVision includes many heartwarming moments across its episodes, but this one is a bit more philosophical. This particular fight doesn’t feature as much in the way of hand-to-hand combat or flashy superpowers as the rest of the fights in the MCU shows. It does, however, feature some interesting debates between the two versions of Vision.

One version of Vision was created from Wanda’s memories of the synthezoid, while the other is reanimated by S.W.O.R.D. but lacks the learned warmth and compassion. They both have the same logical drive, making S.W.O.R.D.’s directive for their Vision to destroy the other a little complicated. The struggle between the two also leads to a tease for the future, since S.W.O.R.D.’s version of Vision simply flies away, leaving him out there in the MCU somewhere.

9 Loki Battles His Variant In Roxxcart

Loki falls while trying to fight his variant in episode 2

When Loki first comes face to face with his variant in a future Roxxcart, he doesn’t actually fight them directly. Instead, the variant later revealed to be Sylvie uses her ability to enchant others to control multiple people, putting each one in Loki’s path as she moves through them.

The scene allows Loki to fight multiple people, but it also isn’t a full-on fight since he holds back a bit, wanting to understand what his variant is actually up to. Neither Sylvie or Loki get to demonstrate their real strength here. The fight is more of a stall tactic for both of them as they dance around one another, which is very fun for the audience to watch.

8 The Dora Milaje Face Off With Falcon, Winter Soldier, Walker, And Zemo

Bucky in shock over his arm being removed by Ayo in Falcon and the Winter Soldier

When Ayo appears in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the audience knows that she isn’t simply going to follow Bucky Barnes around and remind him that Zemo needs to be in prison. Eventually, theirs would have to be a physical conflict.

Unfortunately for everyone involved, when Ayo brings a handful of members of the Dora Milaje with her to apprehend Zemo, it’s at the same moment John Walker is already in conflict with Sam Wilson and Bucky. Patience is running thin, and Bucky is content to sit back and watch Walker get beat handily by the Wakandan soldiers. In order to keep him from getting killed, Sam and Bucky step in, leading to an incredibly fast-paced fight that grants Zemo a chance to escape custody. The lack of trust among the heroes is proven when Ayo removes Bucky’s arm.

7 Sharon Takes Down Everyone In Her Path

Sharon Carter tries to use her earpiece in the storage yard in Falcon and Winter Soldier

Up until The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Sharon Carter didn’t have much of a story of her own. Much of her time in the MCU has been about her connection to Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter. That changes — and she gets a great fight sequence to boot.

Sharon is the one who keeps a lookout while Sam and Bucky attempt to find the doctor responsible for devising an updated version of the Super Soldier Serum. Her watch becomes a one-woman battle against seemingly every other person in the storage yard. She uses a combination of guns, hand-to-hand skills, and found objects to go up against everyone in her path until Sam and Bucky finally emerge to join the fight.

6 Lemar Hoskins’ Death Led To John Walker’s Brutal Revenge

This particular sequence isn’t just heartbreaking; for some, it’s also hard to watch. Lemar is accidentally killed in battle when the Flag Smashers are confronted by Battlestar and the new Captain America.

Walker doesn’t take his friend’s death lightly and chases down the one member of the Flag Smasher team that he can get to to. Walker is vicious in his methods, using the shield to repeatedly hit the man until there’s not much left. It’s the most brutal the MCU has been since the Netflix era of Marvel’s streaming programs. The scene also allowed much of the audience to sympathize with Walker over the loss of his friend, but also despise him for the treatment of the Flag Smasher who wasn’t responsible for Lemar’s death.

5 Wanda Proves Herself Against Agatha Above Town

When Wanda Maximoff and Agatha Harkness first face off in WandaVision, fan favorite villain Agatha clearly has the upper hand because she understands her magic much better than Wanda. Wanda, however, is a fast learner.

One of the best sequences in the show is her embracing her power as the Scarlet Witch high above the small town where she made her home. While Agatha thinks she’s got Wanda beat as they trade magical blows, Wanda proves she’s got Agatha trapped instead.

4 Sam Wilson’s Captain America Wins A Second Round Versus Batroc

Sam as Captain America in Falcon and the Winter Soldier

When Sam Wilson transitions from Falcon to Captain America, he does it with a brand new costume, Wakandan-made wings, and the shield in hand. He also does it by facing off against Batroc for a second time.

Batroc bests him earlier in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, but Sam utilizes both his wings and the shield to match Batroc easily. He even kicks up the shield to stop Batroc in his tracks, a move mastered by the original Captain America, showing he doesn’t need to be a super soldier to pull off a win.

3 Loki And Sylvie Dance In Front Of He Who Remains

Sylvie holds her blade to Loki in their fight scene in season one

While Loki and Sylvie’s initial bout is a result of her enchanting other people, their final one in the first season of Loki is all them. Sylvie desperately wants to kill He Who Remains so that all of the timelines can exist freely, and Loki tries to stop her.

The result is the two of them using blades and their hand-to-hand combat moves against one another, but also not trying to actively harm each other. Sylvie just wants him out of her way and Loki is just trying to get through to her. It’s clear that there’s no malice in the fight; it’s more like a very aggressive and emotionally charged dance.

2 Bucky And Sam Team Up Against John Walker

Sam, Bucky and John Walker About to Square Off in Falcon and the Winter Soldier

After Walker kills a man with the Captain America shield, Bucky and Sam are finally in complete agreement that Walker shouldn’t have it. The fight between the three kicks off the fifth episode of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, and it’s one of the first times the audience gets to see Sam and Bucky almost completely in sync.

The duo go up against a newly super-soldiered-Walker, repeatedly saving one another from his wrath. They also trade off use of the shield in much the same way the audience has previously seen Bucky do with Steve Rogers. Ultimately, this fight isn’t “won” by anyone as Walker is in a bad headspace, Sam’s Falcon wings are ruined, and Bucky drops the shield to the ground. It forces them all to examine just what they’re doing — and it’s the push Sam needs to take up the Captain America mantle.

1 Captain America, Winter Soldier, And US Agent Take On The Flag Smashers For A Perfect Finale

Captain America and Winter Soldier walk between ambulances after their Flag Smasher conflict in Falcon and Winter Soldier finale

To be fair, this particular fight sequence isn’t simply one scene. It’s a long sequence in the finale of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier that requires each person to play their part in a larger goal.

Sam and Bucky each handle some of the Flag Smashers while Walker’s U.S. Agent has to save an armored truck full of people. Despite their differences, the three come together to save the day. Each gets to showcase their own fighting style and make the audience root for them. Even U.S. Agent gets love from the audience here as he redeems many of his past actions.
