Looking for the best Genshin Impact Ayaka build? The 2.0 update added the princess of the Kamisato clan, and she’s a formidable Cryo damage-dealer, dashing between opponents with her Senho sprint, freezing them, and then moving onto the next. Ayaka provides a fun, evasive playstyle that really makes me wish other characters, apart from Mona, also had alternate sprints.
Her elemental skill and burst ain’t no joke, either. Just like Ganyu, Ayaka is an excellent source of Cryo AoE damage, and can be combo’d with Xingqui or Mona for some potent Freeze reactions. So how do you get the most out of the Frostflake Heron? In this Genshin Impact Ayaka build guide, I’ll talk you through some great weapon and artifact combos, as well as her abilities and constellations.
If you’re having trouble finding her character Ascension material, try this Sakura Bloom locations guide. There’s also info on how to get a mushroom pizza recipe for her character quest.
Builds
The best Genshin Impact Ayaka build
As a Cryo DPS character, the best Ayaka builds focus around boosting her Cryo damage or attack output. Unlike many of Genshin Impact’s other characters, Ayaka has no support abilities that scale based on a specific stat—she basically lives and breathes Cryo, and she infuses it into her blade when she exits Senho sprint.
Ayaka’s Constellations build upon this Cryo damage, improving her pre-existing abilities and boosting damage, so it makes sense to build her towards what she’s good at.
Cryo build
- Weapon: Mistsplitter Reforged
Considering Ayaka is the headlining Inazuma character, it’s no surprise that one of the headlining Inazuma five-star weapons is a great pairing. Mistplitter Reforged boosts elemental damage by 12% for every element in your party, which if you’re looking to get the most out of Ayaka’s Cryo, should be pretty varied. The sword also stacks up to three Mistsplitter’s Seals, incrementally boosting elemental damage by 8%, 16%, and 28%.
The way you get these stacks aligns perfectly with Ayaka. The first stack is gained by using normal attacks with elemental damage, which is easy with Ayaka’s post-Senho sprint Cryo infusion. The second stack is gained through using an elemental burst, and the third is activated by having less than 100% energy. These conditions are all very easy for Ayaka to achieve, granting her some hefty bonuses to her Cryo damage output.
- Artifact: Blizzard Strayer
The Blizzard Strayer artifact set really is a no-brainer in this case, since it offers a decent damage boost to Cryo characters. For having two pieces equipped you get a base Cryo damage bonus of 15%, but with four pieces, crit rate is increased by 20% everytime you attack an opponent affected by Cryo. This bonus gains an additional 20% if that opponent is Frozen.
If you run Ayaka with a Hydro character, you’re able to Freeze enemies almost constantly, so this is another powerful buff that you can easily stack on top of that already provided by Mistsplitter Reforged.
DPS build
Of course, not everyone is running around with five-star weapons and full sets of the rarest artifacts. The Black Sword is a decent four-star alternative for Ayaka since it increases normal and charged attack damage by 20%, but also regenerates 60% of attack as HP when you land a critical hit.
When you pair this with Ayaka’s passive talent that increases normal and charged attacks by 30% after she uses Hyouka, it can make her hit pretty hard. Alongside the Black Sword’s 8% crit chance boost, and Ayaka’s already decent crit damage, this weapon can be a great fit.
- Artifact: Shimenawa’s Reminiscence
The new Shimenawa’s Reminiscence artifacts are a very good fit for Ayaka, since like The Black Sword, it’s four-piece set increases normal and charged attack damage by 50% for ten seconds when you cast an elemental skill. The price for this is that you need to have 15 energy when you cast it, and this is consumed when the bonus activates.
The two-piece set also increases attack by a further 18%. When you add this to The Black Sword’s normal and charged attack bonuses, Ayaka’s passive skill boost, and the four-piece set’s bonus, her attacks really pack a punch.
