The Avengers vs. Omni-Man: Who Would Win?

[ad_1]

The Avengers have beat titans, time and slews of aliens. But could they defeat Omni-Man, the evilest version of Superman the universe has ever seen?

Thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s What if…? audiences learned that “Earth’s mightiest heroes” are far more vulnerable than audiences were led to believe. This has many pondering if Invincible‘s Omni-Man could massacre The Avengers as swiftly and viciously as the Guardians of Globe. While there have been many variations of The Avengers, let’s put the original MCU team against Earth’s most evil Superman. With only six members and two non-super individuals, the odds might be against them.

Before dissecting what a battle between Omni-Man and The Avengers would look like, let’s look back at the Guardians of the Globe’s members. Invincible creator Robert Kirkman based The Guardians on the Justice League’s original lineup. In total, there are seven heroes: The Immortal, Aquarus, Darkwing, War Woman, Martian Man, Red Rush and Green Ghost. Unlike the MCU’s original lineup of Avengers, save Darkwing, every member has some superhuman ability.

The Avengers vs. The Guardians of the Globe: Who’s the Stronger Team?

Prior to their murder, audiences only saw the Guardians of the Globe in action once. At the beginning of Invincible‘s pilot, The Mauler Twins attack the White House in an attempt to kill the President. While the Guardians have control of the situation for a moment, they eventually require Omni-Man’s assistance. Later in the episode, Omni-Man’s wife, Debbie Grayson, says, “I doubt he even lives there anymore,” in reference to the President not living at the White House due to security risks. This clues viewers into the fact that attacks like these are a normal part of everyday life in this world. However, what does that say about the Guardian’s inability to handle what must be considered a low-stakes attack on their own?

The MCU at the time of the original Avengers film is far less used to supervillain antics than the Invincible world. In turn, this raises the stakes of The Battle of New York far above that of an attack on the White House. Especially when it is the first large-scale battle The Avengers would be fighting together, with little to no training together beforehand. As audiences know, The Avengers came away from that first fight with a moderate amount of scratches and a God of Mischief in handcuffs.

The Avengers vs. Omni-Man: Who Would Win?

After comparing both superhero teams in action, it seems The Avengers may be the more put-together defenders. However, before putting up the original Avengers against Omni-Man, let’s discuss the biggest wildcard in this fight, The Hulk. If Omni-man lops off Bruce Banner’s head before he can transform into the green behemoth, the rest of the Avengers have no chance. However, if Bruce transforms before Omni-Man’s initial strike or Omni-Man strikes Bruce in the chest and gets caught in The Hulk’s transformation, that’s a different story. With this in mind, let’s even the playing field and say Omni-Man is unaware of Banner’s capabilities.

Thanks to Jarvis’ pristine safety features, it’s safe to assume Iron Man would be alerted of Omni-Man’s presence far before the first punch. Therefore, they wouldn’t be caught by surprise like The Guardians. However, no matter who is standing last in this fight, there will be casualties.

The first to go of The Avengers would likely be Hawkeye, followed quickly by Captain America. Being the leader Steve is, he’d certainly see the danger Natasha would be in when facing Omni-Man and attempt to save her. It would be in this moment that Cap’s heart of gold would likely do him and Black Widow in.

This would leave Iron Man, Thor and Hulk against the Viltrumite. With a single punch from Omni-Man splitting a Tibetan mountain, it is safe to say he could best all three separately in terms of strength. However, together, their strength and tech may be able to overtake Omni-Man. At this point in the battle, everything would come down to which party had the greater weakness. The Avengers, at this point, would have never fought against a force this powerful and have no experience to apply to the battle. Still, it’s reasonable to think once Omni-Man’s challengers were widdled down to three, his arrogance could get the best of him.

Winner: The Avengers

Avengers MCU

At a pivotal moment in his fight with The Guardians of the Globe, Omni-Man used War Woman’s mace to kill Aquaras. There would certainly be a moment where Omni-Man would try to do the same with Mjönlir but be shocked to find something he could not lift. Thor, Hulk, and Iron Man would then seize the moment and dispatch the Viltrumite, avenging their fallen teammates.
