Supergirl’s Nia Teams-Up With an Unlikely Ally in Exclusive Clip

Ahead of Supergirl’s “Dream Weaver” episode airing tonight on The CW, CBR obtained an exclusive clip that teases Nia’s journey to find her mother.

Ever since Supergirl‘s Nia has returned from her time-traveling adventure to save Kara, she’s been unable to let go of the fact that she almost saw her mother alive one more time. Of course, for the good of humanity, Nia sacrifices this chance to visit her mom in the past so as to ensure that she doesn’t disrupt any timelines. But, that doesn’t mean Nia’s happy about it.

During last week’s Supergirl episode, “Welcome Back, Kara!,” fans saw just how heartbroken Nia still is. Although Lena Luthor attempted to console her, Nia is determined to find a way to reach her mother again. Ahead of tonight’s Nia-focused episode, “Dream Weaver,” The CW shared an exclusive clip with CBR from Supergirl‘s upcoming episode that teases just what kind of journey Nia will go on to find her mother and who will be the unlikely ally to help her.

The Supergirl clip opens with Nia looking back at photos of her and her mother in their family album. Nia says, “Mom, I am going to reach you.” Shortly afterward, Nia falls asleep and is transported into a forest-like realm where she believes she sees her mother far ahead of her. Although Nia calls out her mother, her mother doesn’t turn around and keeps walking further from her. Black crows start attacking her as Nia’s dress is snagged in a tangle of branches. Then, none other than Nyxly appears and magics away the dangerous crows.

The fifth-dimensional imp then confesses that she’s been trapped in Nia’s dreams. Nyxly promises Nia that she can help her find her mother if Dreamer helps her to escape. Whether or not the ever allusive and trickster will hold to her word or betray Dreamer — similar to she did with Kara in the Phantom Zone — still remains to be seen.

Season 6’s latest episode also showed Kara’s long-lost father, Zor-El, returning with her from the Phantom Zone. When Dreamer actor Nicole Maines spoke to CBR about how watching Kara reunite with her father affected Nia, she shared, “Nia knows how bad it hurts to not have your parent there. She knows, and so she’s happy for Kara, and she’s like, ‘Of course I want Kara to have that!’ But she’s like, ‘I want me to have that too.'”

Maines continued, “I think over the past couple of seasons, we’ve watched Nia kind of get more and more desperate to figure out her powers and understand where they come from and how to interpret them and there’s really only one person who can help her with that. So without her, she’s stuck.”
