Mark Brooks’ stunning variant cover for The Trial of Magneto #1 features the Master of Magnetism and the Avenger who was murdered in the conclusion of the X-Men’s Hellfire Gala.
The Hellfire Gala ended in X-Factor #10 with the X-Men finding the lifeless body of Scarlet Witch, which leads directly into The Trial of Magneto limited series from X-Factor writer Leah Williams and artist Lucas Werneck (Empyre: X-Men). The Trial of Magneto will see the X-Man put on trial for Wanda Maximoff’s murder, with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes looking to avenge their fallen comrade.
Scarlet Witch paid Magneto a visit in S.W.O.R.D. #6, after the X-Men terraformed Mars and relocated the island nation of Arrako to the planet. Though they are no longer mother and father, Scarlet Witch and Magneto shared a touching moment, even though she is currently Enemy #1 on Krakoa. Mutants now refer to Scarlet Witch as “The Pretender” after it was revealed she is no longer a mutant, with her causing the majority of mutants to lose their abilities on M-Day.
The Trial of Magneto #1 goes on sale Aug. 18 from Marvel Comics.
