Stranger Things Season 4 narrows its release window, which previously encompassed all of 2022, down to a smaller time frame for fans to anticipate.

Stranger Things narrows its 2022 release window for Season 4.

Previously, it was announced in August that the upcoming season would release in 2022, a teaser accompanying the news and highlighting the series’ past moments and what is to come going forward. As a part of Stranger Things Day, a teaser unveiling all the episode titles in Season 4 debuted, closing with an updated release window. If you were afraid you might have to wait until late 2022 to see the new season, we have good news: Stranger Things Season 4 will drop during the summer of next year.

The series’ previous season released on July 4, 2019, in line with its storyline focused on the leading characters enjoying Summer, working jobs away from school and the town celebrating Independence Day–along with it being taken over in secret by the Mind Flayer and the Soviet Union. The new release window shows that Season 4 will come out about three years after fans last had the chance to see their favorite characters in a new setting and story. So far, only trailers and announcements have been available to hold them over (as well as re-watching previous seasons).

A new teaser was also released during Stranger Things Day. Past teasers have focused on Hawkins Police Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) in Russia, Eleven’s adopted siblings at Hawkins Lab and the series’ newest location, the Creel House, while this teaser focuses on the Byers family and Eleven during their life away from Hawkins. The teaser ended with Eleven promising in a letter to Mike that they “will have the best spring break ever,” accompanied by a series of shots of soldiers, gunfire and more action.

Speaking at New York Comic Con 2021, Harbour discussed how Season 4 will have four story arcs throughout its overall narrative structure. One of these arcs that the actor mentioned would delve into Eleven’s backstory and her connection to Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine), the head of Hawkins laboratory that ran experiments on Eleven and other children during their time spent there. So far, only one of Eleven’s adopted siblings, Kali (Linnea Berthelsen), has been seen in the series during the Season 2 episode “The Lost Sister.”

Other story arcs expected to be explored include one centered around the Creel House, another on Hopper’s time in a Russian prison and eventually escaping it and more. Harbour also promised that many of the questions left for fans in Season 3 and prior seasons will be answered in the upcoming season. Now, fans only have to wait a few months until Stranger Things Season 4 releases in the Summer of 2022.
