Despite originally being killed by the ISA, Joel McHale’s Starman will feature more in Stargirl after being upped to a series regular for Season 3.
The cast for DC’s Stargirl is expanding for the third season, as Joel McHale has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming season.
McHale, who has recurred on The CW’s superhero series as Starman/Sylvestor Pemberton since the first season, will become a series regular for Season 3. According to TVLine, McHale confirmed the news while appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and was ecstatic about the promotion. With Sylvestor as an original Justice Society member, this could mean even more have survived than originally thought.
Although DC’s Stargirl is still airing its second season, The CW picked up the series for a third earlier this year before Season 2 even premiered. McHale’s Starman, who was thought to be dead, surprised fans by appearing in the Season 1 finale. Starman, or at least Sylvestor, has occasionally been seen throughout the second season and in upcoming episodes will finally be in Blue Valley. This promotion means that Sylvestor will likely be staying in Blue Valley, at least for a while, come Season 3.
Stargirl airs new episodes Tuesdays at 8:00 pm ET/PT on The CW and are available to stream the following day on The CW App.
