Star Wars: Book of Boba Fett TV Series Premiere Date Set
According to Variety, the Book of Boba Fett has an official release date on Disney+. The Mandalorian spinoff will kick off it’s run on December 29th. This means the series will likely debut the same night as the season finale of Marvel’s Hawkeye, which could make for a very interesting evening on the streaming service’s servers.
The series features Temuera Morrison returning to the role of the galaxy’s most infamous bounty hunter and Ming-Na Wen reprising her role as Fennec Shand, a character that debuted in season one of the Mandalorian but also appeared in the animated series The Bad Batch. We got a teaser for the series at the end of the Mandalorian season two finale which showed Fett and Shand returning to Tatooine to lay claim to the territory once controlled by Jabba the Hutt.
Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson are producing. Rodriguez directed the Fett-centric episode of the Mandalorian season two and is expected to direct some of the episodes here along with Bryce Dallas Howard who is reported to be directing at least one. A “special celebrating the origins and legacy” of Boba Fett will premiere on Disney+ on November 12th which is likely to be similar to the Marvel Legends series that gets new episodes before new movies or series debut to help remind fans about the history of the characters before seeing the next project they’re involved in.
This should include his appearances in the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and it may even show clips from his first appearance in the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special which featured an animated version of the character.
