Stan Lee Honored With Plaque at Avengers Campus in Disneyland

Marvel Comics would have been a totally different company today had it not been for Stan Lee’s vision and imagination.

As of last week, visitors to the Avengers Campus at Disneyland will notice a new plaque near the entrance commemorating his contributions to the world of superheroes starting today. Lee’s influence and legacy will continue to expand with the MCU and the continuous storylines of the characters he helped define and cement in pop culture around the world as co-creator on practically every main character in the MCU to date.

The plaque states:

“We dedicate Avengers Campus to the incomparable Stan Lee. That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt a real superhero. Thank you, Stan, for inspiring the hero within each of us. You have made us all True Believers.”

While it’s hard to believe that visitors to Disneyland’s Marvel-themed section will need to be reminded who Stan Lee was, the plaque will undoubtedly become a must-see for selfies in the park.

The Avengers Campus, which opened in June 2021, allows MCU fans to interact with all of the heroes, as well as one or two villains, from the films. While the Campus is currently only in California, there are plans for it to be replicated at other Disney Parks around the world, including Disneyland Paris this summer.

Stan “The Man” Lee sadly passed away in November 2018, just months before the arrival of Avengers: Endgame hit cinemas, sending a wave of grief through the geek and comics communities. Even though that was over three years ago, his absence is still being felt with every new addition to the Marvel canon.
