SPOILERS: About That Surprise ‘Loki’ Cameo in Episode 5…
If you’re caught up on the latest episode of Loki on Disney+, then you probably caught the quick scene of Throg, the Frog version of Thor, that appeared to be captured in a glass jar and just out of reach of a full-sized version of Mjolnir. The scene takes place as the camera pans down through the ground into a fall-out shelter and we see the little Frog, dressed in classic Thor clothing, trying to bust out of the jar that is marked “T365”, this is for Thor #365 the first appearance of Throg done by Walt Simonson.
Turns out there was a bigger cameo for the character planned that would’ve appeared in episode one. Series producer Eric Martin wrote on Twitter: “We actually shot a scene for the Time Theater in Ep 1 of Loki getting pummeled by Frog Thor, but had to cut it to keep things moving. It’s too bad, because Tom was funny as hell. #LokiMidnightTheater”
As always, there will be spoilers, so please avoid this if you don’t want to be spoiled. #LokiMidnightTheater.

The other very interesting thing to note comes from the ForAllNerds podcast where series director Cate Shortland was asked some of her favorite Easter eggs in the show and she pointed out the Thanos copter which was an idea from her executive producer Kevin Wright and of course getting Throg into the show, which she then revealed: “And we recorded Chris Hemsworth for that by the way… That’s, like, a whole new recording. Not recycled.”
