Sony’s ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ Nearing $500M Globally

The fall of 2021 is turning out to be pretty good for Sony. There are huge expectations for the opening next weekend of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is a Marvel Studios movie but being distributed and promoted by Sony… and then you can add on top of that Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which just pulled in another $4.7M internationally taking it’s global total up to $493.3M, a very impressive number during the pandemic for a film that scored well with fans but not as well with critics.

The studio has to be hoping that these numbers continue on into 2022 with the upcoming release of Morbius, which according to the director is set in the same universe as Venom and we see Michael Keaton’s Vulture from the MCU. And a recent trailer for the film is starting to build up some positive buzz. 

Meanwhile, as we reported last week, Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal has confirmed that a third Venom film is currently in the works. This comes a few months following the release of the sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and just days before the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. While Pascal’s comments indicate that the film is in its very early stages, this means that fans can safely expect another outing of Tom Hardy as the human and symbiote duo.

“We are in the planning stages right now but what we are focused on is getting everybody to come and see No Way Home,” Pascal said in an interview.

As soon as Venom: Let There Be Carnage debuted, fans began to wonder what the future would hold for Hardy’s take on the human and symbiote, both within potential Spider-Man installments and outside of it.

Sony may finally be getting their universe of Marvel characters off the ground.
