She-Hulk’s Nemesis Titania Could Be Doctor Doom’s Entry to the MCU

The introduction of Titania on the upcoming Disney+ series She-Hulk could herald the entry of Doctor Doom into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The She-Hulk Disney+ series set to debut later this year will introduce Bruce Banner’s cousin, Jennifer Walters, to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Equally exciting is the idea that She-Hulk’s nemesis Titania could be the key to introducing Doctor Doom’s into the MCU as well.

Titania, aka Mary MacPherran, was created by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck and debuted in 1984’s Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #3. Mary was born prematurely, which led to her being the smallest of her siblings. After constantly being humiliated because of her small size, Mary became bitter and dreamed of gaining superpowers to get revenge on her tormentors, and falsely claimed to secretly be the superhero Spider-Woman. Her popularity skyrocketed until the truth was exposed during the first Secret Wars. Humiliated, Mary and her best friend Marsha Rosenberg ran away. They eventually encountered Doctor Doom, who offered them the chance to gain superpowers.

Using the highly advanced technology powered by a powerful alien storm outside his Doombase, Doctor Doom gave the two women superpowers so they could fight for him in the Secret Wars. Marsha gained the power to change between three volcanic forms. Meanwhile, Mary grew several feet taller and gained superhuman strength. Her powers also changed her mentally, going from meek and shy as Mary to proud and boisterous as Titania. A few moments later, she met her future husband, the Absorbing Man, and challenged him to a fight, only for him to decline because he had nothing to prove to her.

Titania’s first real battle during Secret Wars was against She-Hulk, who had previously defeated the other members of Doom’s army. Their battle was interrupted by the arrival of other heroes who attacked Doombase, but this still marked the beginning of their longtime rivalry. Titania later fought Spider-Man, who was able to use his experience to easily beat her and give her arachnophobia in the process.

Titania Defeats She-Hulk

When she returned to Earth, Titania and Absorbing Man joined Baron Zemo’s new Masters of Evil, constantly coming to blows with She-Hulk. The two were eventually married and shortly thereafter, Titania discovered that she had cancer. After being treated by Jane Foster, MacPherran tried to remain on the straight and narrow but was coerced back to a life of crime by the Hood. Most recently, Titania and Absorbing Man joined Gamma Flight, initially fighting the Hulk before joining becoming one of his allies against the Abomination and Skaar.

Considering that Kang the Conqueror entered the MCU through the Loki series, Doctor Doom debuting through She-Hulk isn’t beyond the realm of possibility. Jameela Jamil is set to star as Titania in the series, and while there is no certainty as to how she will receive her powers in the MCU, Doom is a large part of her comic book origin, making it only natural to speculate on his possible introduction in the Disney+ show.
