Hulk star Lou Ferrigno suggests that Disney+’s upcoming She-Hulk series should be like The Incredible Hulk and avoid CGI.
Disney+’s She-Hulk will introduce Bruce Banner’s titular cousin to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, marking a significant turning point in the Hulk’s legacy on television and possibly in film. The Incredible Hulk alum Lou Ferrigno, the original live-action Hulk, has some advice for the newest Hulk series.
In an interview with TooFab, Ferrigno reflected on his series and compared in to more contemporary projects, “Today there is so much emphasis on CGI. So it has to come back to good stories — that’s what people want. That’s why three decades of people — I still meet fans of [the TV series] ‘The Hulk’ and they bring it up how much it affected their lives.” With regard to She-Hulk, he suggested, “I think it’s a good idea, but I think we have to get retrained from seeing too much special effects because the more authentic, organic the character can be, the more believable.”
On the topic of computer generated special effects, the actor added, “So we have to see what happens because it may work for ‘Star Wars’ — it may work for different films, but you know, when you have too much CGI, it gets confusing.”
Developed by Jessica Gao, Disney+’s She-Hulk stars Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Ginger Gonzaga and Renée Elise Goldsberry. The series has yet to receive a premiere date on Disney+.
