Shang-Chi’s Simu Liu shared a picture of himself that made it clear he’s watching Loki on Disney+, and that he knows what Mobius wants most in life.
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Loki Episode 4, “The Nexus Event,” now streaming on Disney+.
Simu Liu, star of the upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, proved that he’s keeping up with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, he knows exactly what would make him the envy of one breakout character in the Loki series currently airing on Disney+.
On Twitter, Liu shared a picture of himself out on the water, atop a jet ski. “Just out here living Mobius’s dream life,” he captioned the photo, making a clear reference to Owen Wilson’s Loki character that’s sure to be spotted by Liu’s fellow Marvel fans. Liu later added two more jet skiing images, with text reading simply, “For Morbius [sic].”
One of Loki‘s running jokes is Mobius and his inexplicable fascination with jet skis. As an employee of the Time Variance Authority, he has no memory of many of the experiences that most people take for granted, which puts an element of sadness into his otherwise humorous obsession. However, recent developments on the series suggest that the idea of jet ski may be a remnant of a forgotten life that he lived before he was taken by the TVA — and that he’ll be furious if he finds out that he could have been in that life riding that jet ski all along.
Whether or not Liu has any theories about Mobius’ past or fate, fans seem happy enough to just geek out with him on Twitter, sharing jet ski photo manipulations and urging him to “Shang-Ski” his way over to help Mobius out.
Created by Michael Waldron and directed by Kate Herron, Loki stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, Eugene Cordero as Casey, Sasha Lane as Hunter C-20 and Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, with Richard E. Grant and Jack Veal. New episodes premiere Wednesdays on Disney+.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Dave Callaham, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Tony Leung as Wenwu/The Mandarin, Awkwafina as Katy, Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, Meng’er Zhang as Xialing, Ronny Chieng as Jon Jon, Fala Chen as Jiang Li and Florian Munteanu as Razor Fist. The film arrives in theaters Sept. 3.
