Sega’s Astro City Mini is getting a new version that features a vertically-oriented screen, it has been revealed.
The Astro City Mini V looks much like the original, but its screen is tilted 90 degrees to accommodate ‘TATE’ games. Taito is taking a similar route with its similar Egret II Mini, which is due out soon and has a screen that can be manually rotated 90 degrees depending on the game you’re playing.
The Astro City Mini V will include the following titles from the likes of Toaplan, Raizing and (of course) Sega itself:
- Zaxxon
- Action Fighter
- Wrestle War
- Desert Breaker
- Raiden
- Batsugun
- Dogyuun
- V-V / Grind Stormer
- Same! Same! Same! / Fire Shark
- Outzone
- Tatsujin / Truxton
- Tatsujin / Truxton II
- Kingdom Grandprix
- Armed Police Batrider
- Battle Bakraid
- Strikers 1945
- Gunbird
- Moon Cresta
- Sengoku Ace
- Cosmo Police Galivan
- Sonic Wings
The Astro City Mini V launches in Summer 2022 and will cost 19,580 Yen ($172 USD / £129). The official site is here.
The previous model came with arcade titles such as Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder, Shinobi and Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars.
Thanks to Lee Jackson for the tip!
